Interview Numero Dos: The X Broker: Jeff Corbett

I had so much fun interviewing Broker Bryant last week that I decided to take a stab at my old nemesis turned industry ally, Jeff Corbett.

This interview on Bloodhound Blog was bit longer but is chock full of good information.

Questions include:

Do you think the mortgage crew on Active Rain was defensive because they had something to hide or just becausex your ideas were so new that it was difficult to comprehend?

You hung an originator from the proverbial yardarm when you outlined a violation of the Truth-In-Lending Act.  What was the eventual outcome of your intervention on the consumer’s behalf?

We were fortunate to get together in Laguna Beach.  What did you learn from the meeting?

It’s pretty amazing how it’s much easier it is to communicate in person. Do you think that is one of the pitfalls of Real Estate 2.0?

Aren’t you indicting Realtors for vague disclosure on the buyer side of the commissions?

AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE...

What did contribute to your non-conforming ways?

Wow, apparently I missed out on lots of previous AR drama.  It also appears Jeff knows a thing or two...will have to add his to the list of blogs I read....

WOW - now this is a GREAT interview!  I remember those AR dramas but had shied away from them because I was pretty new here then and did not know the personalities involved.  I think I'll go back and read those again.  This interview is very insightful - thank you for posting this here for us to read.

Nicely done Brian and Jeff.

Brian,

Great job!  and superb follow on to bring an armistice to the Civil War.......Jeff.....it's good to see your real character a little closer (up front and personal).  I think that we all did get carried away with our personal feelings and passion for the business. Transparency, absolutely nothing wrong with it.  This Civil War was a great lesson learned for all of us that got wrapped up in the heat of the battle.

Brian....... great job.... I actually just came across your blog and went over to read the interview. I read 75% of it and will read the rest tonight. Overall, great job in regards to the both of you. Going back to what happened, it's amazing how it took place and what came of it. You learn a little hear and a little there. Again, great job with the interview.

Brian...

Like I said over at Blood Hound "You're on to something here"...   :)

You are very good at doing these interviews. You seem to know "exactly" what questions to ask. That takes talent....     :)

Loved the interview with X....   He's such a deep thinker. I love that about you guys.

X...Y here. I know you're reading this. Thanks for giving us a peek at the real you. Although I know the real you, there was something in that interview that I did not know.

"Ms Corbett...You Done Good"....    :)

WOW Brian.......friggin' (may I type friggin'?) excellent interview.  If a Title guy can 'get it'.....or 'almost get it'....that's saying something about both your communication skills and certainly Jeff's.

(did you paraphrase, or write REALLY fast?  Tape record?..... during the 'interview')

01/23/2007 03:23 PM by Rob Robinson- Lehigh Valley PA (Bertrum Settlements (Title & Abstract))

Very interesting interview.  He's right, of course, about the power of listings with real estate brokers.  They simply "follow the money".  But, you can make a very good living as a Buyers Broker.  I do.

Brian, I promise to pop over to Bloodhound and read the interview later tonight, when I've had a moment to relax, and my brain is less frazzled!

Wow Brian!   You just keep getting better and better!   Great interview.  I still have trouble visualizing Jeff Corbett as shy.

BRIAN -

Good interview...

As an industry participant I enjoy reading others' perspectives as they relate to mortgage lending.
Hopefully, I will be able to contribute more value to the forum in the future...

Brian,

Good Interview.  As I learned more about Jeff C., I have grown to understand him more.

01/25/2007 11:24 PM by Solid Rock Mortgage Corporation

Thanks, Robert. Jeff needs to start explaining himself...to originators.  He's got a great message and is actually very  broker friendly.  You ought to hear the passion when he gets going in person.
