FULL SERVICE GAS STATION THRIVES IN MOUNT VERNON VA

There is only one gas station in the Fort Hunt section of Mount Vernon. It is located in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center .

Yes, they pump your gas, wash the windows and check the oil and fluid levels. Even though they are the only gas station in the Fort Hunt area their price per gallon of gasoline is competitive with others in the Mount Vernon area.

Why? The shopping center and service station are at the main entrance to Hollin Hall Village, a community of one level ramblers that is very popular with senior citizens.

Also, at the time Hollin Hall Village was developed the Hollin Hall Elementary School was built about one block behind the service station. As the demographics of the area changed and there was no longer a need for an elemantary school in the area it was converted to the Hollin Hall Senior Center which attracts "clients" from all over the Mount Vernon area. Many of these people welcome the opportunity to have a full service gas station and car care center available while they enjoy the activities at the senior citizen center.

Karen...What a service you have provided your following. A full service gas station? I didn't know there were any left in this country. By full service most mean they pump the gas...and that is it!

Full service is where it is at! We have one full service station here and I know several people who drive out of their way to get gas there.

Karen--We have a full service station in Forest Lake MN too. It is popular with senior citizens and young mom's who don't want to leave babies in the car to go pay. In the extreme cold it is popular with people of all ages! :)

Kathleen There are very few left in the country - they serve a very special niche market. Did you know there are no self serve gas stations in New Jersey - they pump your gas, but that's all.

Teri I never gave the young moms a thought - I haven't been one for some time now :) - I'm sure the station I referred to in this post must get some of that type customer, also
