A Little Help During Hard Times

Things are tough right now, especially if you are a construction worker living in Henry County. Only a year or so ago Henry County was a booming county with contractors begging for workers. Today, the hammers are all but silent and many construction workers are wondering where their next meal will come from.

Brande Bradford Finishes Unloading

We decided to step in and offer a little help on behalf of the Community Bible Church Local Out-Team.

Last Sunday, Chris, along with my daughters Amanda and Jennifer spent the afternoon loading up a ragged horse trailer with hundreds of cans of food, more than twenty 50 lb. bags of rice, and bags and bags of noodles.

Tuesday evening, Chris and I delivered the food to Helping in His Name Ministries, in Stockbridge Georgia.  Locally, they are usually simply referred to  as "The Food Pantry".

The Food Pantry usually operates as a stop-gap program providing food to those waiting for food stamps or other assistance to kick in. Often they also supply supplemental food to the elderly, families, and single parents.

A horse trailer load of food won't help many for very long, but if it gets just a few through hard times it was more than worth the effort. If you have some extra non-perishable food laying around or have a little time to spend as a volunteer, The Food Pantry could use your help.

Great job!  Food pantries around the country are empty - this is one of the best charities that need our help.

Mary ~ As we were unloading, the number of people coming through just tugged at me.  I havent mentioned it to Chris yet, as we are involved in some local ministry programs at church, but I think the food pantry would be a great place for the kids to volunteer one night a week.  Thank you for stopping by.

Brande, that's awesome! You are teaching your kids the importance of helping others. We have a food pantry and the Daily Bread here and it's great that the high school kids from our church volunteer on holidays. Puts things in perspective.

Debbie...The more kids are involved, the less they seem to take for advantage.  Name brand clothes dont mean as much, steak dinners are as impressive and a nice warm place to sleep is a blessing.

Alexander...Thank you and thank you for the feature as well.  For a long time we didnt go to church. For almost a year we have only missed one maybe two Sundays at the most.  We are living and working our business as the bible says we should, and we are being rewarded generously.  The difference it has made in our family is tremendous.  The difference we are able to make out in the community is life altering.

Hey Debi, how ya been?  The more people become familiar with what is out there, the more people that will get help.  The more people that get help, the more lives we can change.  It is all about giving.
