A Little Help During Hard Times
Things are tough right now, especially if you are a construction worker living in Henry County. Only a year or so ago Henry County was a booming county with contractors begging for workers. Today, the hammers are all but silent and many construction workers are wondering where their next meal will come from.
| We decided to step in and offer a little help on behalf of the Community Bible Church Local Out-Team. Last Sunday, Chris, along with my daughters Amanda and Jennifer spent the afternoon loading up a ragged horse trailer with hundreds of cans of food, more than twenty 50 lb. bags of rice, and bags and bags of noodles. Tuesday evening, Chris and I delivered the food to Helping in His Name Ministries, in Stockbridge Georgia. Locally, they are usually simply referred to as "The Food Pantry". |
The Food Pantry usually operates as a stop-gap program providing food to those waiting for food stamps or other assistance to kick in. Often they also supply supplemental food to the elderly, families, and single parents.
A horse trailer load of food won't help many for very long, but if it gets just a few through hard times it was more than worth the effort. If you have some extra non-perishable food laying around or have a little time to spend as a volunteer, The Food Pantry could use your help.
