Fishhawk Lake Real Estate The Seven Year "Switch"

This is my 7th year of being a Realtor®. Unlike getting the Seven Year Itch, I don't want to walk away from this crazy business. It's been remarkable how many sellers have decided to sell and list with me. Also many buyers are coming from all over the country, flying or driving in to see our little private lake community at Fishhawk Lake and buying up properties. It has become my busiest year ever. With that said, I have found myself having an internal discussion (using my inside voice) and saying to myself, how come I don't have that "oh-my-gosh-how-am-I-going-to-get-everything-done" feeling? I would do a self-check on my mental To Do list and think to myself, am I forgetting something?? That feeling of all of those balls in the air and worrying about dropping one had disappeared. It was so new to me that I honestly started to worry!

Today it hit me. And it came as a result of watching George Clooney talk about one of the keys to being a successful actor (and this can pertain to ANYTHING) and that is

CONFIDENCE

As of this seventh year in my career representing buyers and sellers at Fishhawk Lake and the surrounding area, I have had that realization--that AHA MOMENT--I actually feel comfortable in my Realtor® skin!! And that's why it's the Seven Year Switch, from questioning myself every step of the way to feeling that solid foundation of confidence along with a huge dose of passion that is allowing me to make that switch from taking tentative steps towards success in real estate to that assertive walk that feels sure-footed.

There will still be the occasional mis-steps, but as Joe Petrowsky said it in a comment recently on one of my posts "I have learned much more in my life from what didn't go well, than where I was successful". That's what life is, and if you don't view it with trepidation or question yourself every step of the way, but embrace the lessons and know that you have the chutzpah to get through it with your head held high, then you will KNOW without a doubt that it always works out for the best!

So, here's to the Seven Year Switch instead of the Seven Year Itch!!! (I'm here to STAY).

Cute analogy Gayle, and glad to hear "you're here to stay."  It is great to have the experience to feel confident and know we bring solid skills to the table for our clients. You obviously live and breathe your market - and there's no-one who can better represent Fishhawk Lake. Congrats.

By the way, where is June going? Geez.

Great job with your post. You are correct about always leaning more from what you didn't do well, will always teach you more than what you did right. Chutzpah is not something that is learned, as you know. You either have it or you don't.

Make it a great weekend!

Debb, it feels great to say "we're staying put"! Especially waking up to such a glorious day! Hope yours is, too.

Kristin, another 7 years should put me right there in the official retirement age bracket. But with a workaholic husband, not sure if that's in the cards!

Alexandra, love Marilyn!

Christine, boy don't you have THAT right!!

Joe, adversity is a great teacher. I thought of you again this morning as I'm facing something to learn from.
