I also experienced the need for a home repair last year. My husband and I figured out that we need to have a sprinkler system repair. A leak is discovered in one of our sprinkler heads, leaking significant volume of water on a continuous basis. We realized that this problem should be fixed right away to avoid losing more money and wasting more water. A sprinkler system repair performed by a professional will cost us $150, so I searched at the internet to find out if my husband and I can do the repair ourselves. Then I found a video at YouTube explaining in detail how to troubleshoot and repair a leaking sprinkler system. I thought: maybe, just maybe, we are experiencing the same issue, and will probably have the same solution.
At first we were hesitant to do the sprinkler system repair ourselves, considering that only a professional can perform this procedure seamlessly. However, after watching the video, we figured out that the process is not too complicated. All it takes is to understand the basics on how a sprinkler system works and getting your hands a little dirty (I left that to my husband, lol!) We also figured out how much it would cost us if we do the repair ourselves, and found that if a damaged diaphragm is indeed the cause of the leakage, a new diaphragm kit only costs about $4.
After costing us a few cents in cleaning the affected valve carefully and putting the parts back together, we checked our yard and viola! Leaking is gone. It turned out that some piece of debris is lodged near the diaphragm which prevents the diaphragm from functioning properly. A little bit of research work and some tender loving care on the sprinkler system saved us $150.
