Why Should I Hire a Local Realtor®?
The simple answer is: a local Realtor® knows the area like the back of their hand.
Why is this important? - There are many "issues" within each town and village across Long Island NY. Some towns have well water and not county water. Some have cesspools instead of sewers. There are land issues like is the property zoned for commercial as well as residential? Knowing this information is key when selling your Long Island NY home. Then of course there are town and village codes that some homeowners do not know about themselves and it's their Realtor's® job to know these codes.
A few years ago I received a call from a homeowner an hour away who wanted to meet with me to sell her home. Really? Why? She explained to me that when she did her research she felt if she found me all over the Internet then I could certainly market her home. I explained to her that #1 I do not know her area at all and #2 logistically it is too far for me to properly manage the listing. I was flattered though. She ended up not selling her home. When she is ready, I will most certainly refer to an outstanding agent that I know in her area.
If doing the right thing costs me some business, then so be it. The New York Department of State says that our clients' best interests are always placed first before our own. There you have it.
