What NEW real estate brokerage will be America’s NEXT major BRAND?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with iBuy Realty: Rethink. Real Estate.

For the past few decades, there has been three(2) or four(3) national real estate brokerage firms that have ruled the lands. These traditional firms to some degree have dominated the real estate scene and dictated the systems that govern our industry. One major brand in particular has gained substantial ground during the economic downturn and surpassed one of the countries most recognized brands by successfully using education to position itself as an industry leader. But, who will be the next real estate brokerage brand?

Unlike any other industry in the history of our country, the real estate industry seems to be a dinosaur that refuses to evolve itself. But why? How can an industry sustain itself year after year during a time when technology seems to be ripping through and reinventing every industry with no remorse? Today’s consumer is more savvier than ever before, uses technology to find their own home, search websites to do their own due diligence, leverages sites like Zillow.com and Truila.com to aid them in determining the value of their house, reads “HOW TO” articles and blogs, watches YouTube videos about “HOW TO” do everything themselves as they challenge and question the relevancy of Realtors and/or the fee we command.

At the end of the day, think about it, technology has lowered the cost of EVERY industry. Gone are the days when you price shopped by driving around or knew that one store was sure to have the BEST price(Walmart), etc… Now, consumers can shop a website called Amazon.com, get better prices than Walmart, and even have the product shipped right to your front door. Or, what about buying a car on eBay? Did we ever think the day would come when we wouldn’t go to the car dealer to negotiate the deal with some hardcore salesman for a decent clunker. Now, you can go to eBay, find the best price in the country for a car, pull a CarFax, and pay $600 to have the car shipped to your front door. Thousands of cars are being SOLD this way everyday!

So, why has the real estate industry weathered the storm of CHANGE? I will tell you why! PEOPLE HATE CHANGE, but it’s inevitable!! Irrefutably, there hasn’t been a comprehensive real estate firm(eRealty, Foxtons, Redfin, ZipRealty, etc…) that has strategically demonstrated the ability to collectively convince Consumers or Realtors that their methods were able to transcend the original model. All of these brands had/have millions of Venture Capital money backing them to supposedly “reinvent” the real estate industry. But it’s NOT about the amount of money! It’s about passionately understanding all the intricacies of the real estate brokerage business. It’s about enhancing and finding NEW ways to execute the basics! You can’t just be some techie with a pocket full of rich investors and think you are going change our industry. It’s not going to happen!! Ask Samuel Pierpont Langley, an early American Inventor that had every resource at his disposal to assist him in being the first man to create a flying machine(airplane). But we all know that with minimal monetary resources via their bike shop and a lack of education, the Wright Brothers won the race of being the first to successfully fly a man-made machine. However, what they possessed was an undeniable passion and a burning desire to create their dream and/or vision. This exact reason is why none of the tech based companies have streamlined or reinvented the real estate industry! Just like Samuel Pierpont Langley, these companies are in the game for the wrong reasons. To get rich!

However, iBuy Realty has methodically and organically built and critiqued itself in the best real estate market in the country(Houston, Texas). Is iBuy Realty Americans NEXT major real estate brand? I say yes! An understudy of the “Discount Brokerage Game” iBuy Realty understands why the other Discount Brokerages before us didn’t survive. Researching and understanding their demise, iBuy Realty was strategically designed to surpass and successfully become a sustainable “National Discount Brokerage” firm that will be attractive to both Consumers and Realtors.

Leveraging technology and successfully using an a la Carte Menu of Services approach, iBuy Realty’s objective is to give consumers more Control. Options. Savings. Although we offer an upfront and transparent system, our business model is NOT about giving rebates and discounting commissions to sell a house. Our objective is to meet our clients at their individual point of need. Today’s homebuyer wants to be more involved in the process, leverage their access to excess information via the internet, and save money. With sellers, iBuy Realty partners with our clients and share the expense of marketing their house without sacrificing service or marketing. Providing their house with optimal exposure, sellers want to preserve more of their hard earned equity. At iBuy Realty, instead of fighting CHANGE, we decided to understand the habits of today’s buyers and sellers and give them what they want. This strategy has proved to be successful in other industries, why do we think real estate is exempt?

Bobby, our industry has really changed even in the last few years. I see more and more independent boutique companies sprout up.  The years ahead will be interesting.
