Walking down the aisles of Trader Joe's chocked full of goodies.  The shelves are stocked with the basics but the store has a wide variety of organic produce, imported cheese any many other goodies.  I love it  because they pride themselves in selling the unusual, e.g. frozen chicken-lemon grass springs rolls to wild blueberry juice at great prices.  Now we have the news that Trader Joe's will remove some Chinese-grown foods from it's stores primarily because of customers expressing worries over the safety of products made in China.  Trader Joe's is responding to the worries that China's food will go the way of their toy industry, pet food.  For me, you will find me strolling down the aisles in their Westchester County, Hartsdale store, looking for interesting new and exotic foods of the world.     Article about Trader Joe's barring some imports.........

I love Trader Joes too!  Only wish there was one in the Austin area.  When I lived in Phoenix, and before TJ had made it there my girlfriends and I would hope into our car and drive to the LA area for a weekend of sun, fun, surf, and shopping at TJ.  I love thier "two buck Chuck" in the wine aisle.  The red is great in the glass and I think the white is great for cooking!  We have Central Market and Whole Foods here.  Not quite the same as TJ!

I can't begin to tell you how very much I miss Trader Joe's.  After living in California for a long time, we moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area.  I was devastated to find out that Trader Joe's does not have any locations in Texas.  We do, however, have Central Market, which is also fabulous and probably carries everything Trader Joe's carries, but at much higher prices.

I miss Trader Joes too.  I loved coming home with all those great goodies and sharing my finds with family and friends.  "Two Buck Chuck" is great!!  I will have to look them up again and see where the closest one is.  Thank for the intersting post.

We were supposed to get a Trader Joe's in Lovettsville in the New Town Center.  They pulled out when the real estate market tanked in 2006 and the builders couldn't bring in enough new residents.

So, I travel 14 miles to a Giant or 25 miles to a Harris Teeter.  Comical.  It costs me about $12 round trip to go to Harris Teeter.

Oh well.

Trader Joe's has so many different types of foods from all over the world that it makes it fun to shop.

Lisa,

Hope they come to your area so you don't have to be sad.  Whole Foods is also great, just a little different.

Barbara,

Very true and even though two buck chuck is not $2.00., but $3.00, is not bad.

Len,

Oh boy, is all I can say.  Hope they decide to come back in  the near future.  That will mean to real estate has picked-up too.
