It is that time of the year again. The concert series comprises 4 separate events and really is a reminder for me and a lot of residents in Agoura Hills CA that summer is really here, school has ended and the kids are not complaining about homework anymore! Every year seems to be better than the last with the following groups playing in the park:
June 16, 2013: Surfin Safari, tribute to the Beach Boys (ALREADY PLAYED) July 7, 2013: Knight Fever July 21, 2013: Face to Face, tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John August 4, 2013: Rumours, tribute to Fleetwood MacI have been attending the summer concerts in the park for a number of years and it really is like being at a neverending summer party with family and friends surrounding you. I run into neighbors that I have not seen or spoken to in months, my kids run around on the huge grass field with their friends trying to talk me into dancing, and all I have to do is sit on the grass under a shady tree and listen to music for FREE! There are a number of food trucks, sponsor tables with local information about the City of Agoura Hills, etc, along with numerous kidzone activities such as arts and crafts, tatoos, and an inflatable slide. On the July 7th show, there is a spectacular fireworks show after the concert that typically is lifting off from the Agoura High School football stadium just on the other side of the street from Chumash Park. Right over your heads!
Insider Tips
Bring your own water. There is water and other drinks for sale, but you may not want to get out of your lazy chair.
What to Bring: Be sure to bring chairs, as the grass sometimes is damp, blankets, as it gets a bit chilly in the evening, and a cooler for water or any food you might bring along.
Activities: Food trucks, kids arts and crafts, other kids activities, dancing.
Location to Sit: Every location is great at the park. There are seats ropped off right in front of the stage for the hard core dancers. Trees outly the majority of the park for shade. I find the best seats are on the outskirts under the trees. There are small hills at the park so you can always see the stage. It gets a bit crowded in spots so be sure to love thy neighbor.
Bring Cash: The food trucks and such typically only accept cash. However, last year one of the food trucks was accepting credit cards.
