THIS IS THE QUESTION, HOW CAN I POLISH MY ACTIVE RAIN BLOGGING?

THIS IS THE QUESTION, HOW CAN I POLISH MY ACTIVE RAIN BLOGGING?

HERE IS THE ANSWER!

We all work hard to be consistent by posting daily in our blogging, which is our on-line communication to consumers as well as professionals in our industry.

We provide valuable information.  Please remember our posts are seen, not only by Active Rain members, but on the Internet by millions of people, via Facebook, Google+, Tweeter and more.

The final touch to presenting your best self is quick and easy, and takes only a minute or less.  Why tarnish your on-line image by taking this one small step each time you post and each time you comment?

We all are top professionals in our fields and prove this daily, but failing to take a small amount of time to do this will tarnish our image.

The most important button when posting in Active Rain is SPELL CHECK BUTTON.  I use this EASY button every day.  I have noticed that there are posts and comments that some do not check before submitting.  I also think it is important to be positive in your comments.

Be forewarned, it is these tiny little details which are so important and put the polish on your on-line image!

Good advice for many of us. We also need to double check the spelling in titles and use the spell check when making comments.

I see a lot of errors in the spelling of names in comments and spell check will not help there.

Surprising even in Active Rain how many spelling errors there are. Pretty easy to spell check.

Good morning Barbara - I'm horrified when I look back at a past post and discover a spelling or grammar error. Even though I click the spell check every time, there are always mistakes that get past me and the button!

I used to be a better speller, at least I thought I was. Now when I hit that spell check button and it underlines a word in red, I think, really, have been spelling it differently for years. But my excuse, English is my third language.

You know what would be great is if it was MANDATORY before hitting the post button.

So true! A misspelled word just jumps off the page at me. Of course auto fill is my sworn enemy. I sometime end up saying the wrong thing, even though it is spelled correctly! Congratulations on the feature.

Bad spelling, poor grammar, poor punctuation are major pet peeves of mine. Forgetting about seo issues and google, what about when a member of the public reads something we write and it doesn't looked polished and professional? Might be better not to put it out there in the first place.

I am not sure how many people feel more likely to do business with someone whose posts are full of misspellings, but I know that I am unable to do any business with such people.  I may be missing out on the "comfortable" people who just let such things slide, or actually feel bonded to them.  Maybe.

The use of spell checker is definitely important although improper use of properly spelled words can create issues. It is a good idea to have someone else check your writing before posting it.

I'm with Lyn - I think texting is doing a heck of a lot of damage to the English language.

I was also shocked to learn recently that my grand-daughter (3rd grade) is not being taught handwriting in school. They print.

Meanwhile, my spelling is pretty good, but typos abound. I need to remember to use spell check more often.

Our blog is often a viewer's first impression and you know what they say about that--there may not be a second chance to capture a particular consumer. So take an extra minute and check the spelling for an added layer of polish.
