ANOTHER DOUBLE DIGIT DROP IN BREA CA REAL ESTATE LISTINGS

Real estate listings fell once again, leaving fewer than 3 dozen homes for sale in Brea, California, at the end of May 2013. Year over year, listings have fallen by more than 42%, with the bulk of that decrease in the short sale category, which has dropped 85.7% since May of last year. Declining inventory is more than unusual at this time of year, and could be an indication of homeowners reluctance to take on additional debt.

Pending home sales were up month over month, but posted a 25.2% drop, when compared to one year earlier. This decrease was inevitable, and we can expect to see these figures fall even further in coming months, due to the shortage of homes for sale in Brea.

Real estate sales increased by more than 22% between April and May 2013, and by nearly 19% year over year. However, unless there is a sharp increase in Brea real estate listings, the number of sales will begin to fall in coming months. In May 2013, the majority of real estate sales in Brea, California closed at or above the original list price.
