Two Baby Bear Cubs Walked Right By My House in Stowe, Vemont!!!

I can't believe it. I was out walking my dog around the grounds of my townhouse in beautiful Stowe, Vermont and I missed two baby bears that stopped to play right on my front lawn. I returned from walking my dog and the neighbor told me excitedly how two baby bear cubs had just wandered across the property.

I had been assembling a pile of kindling wood as I have been having fires in my fireplace almost every night in June - if you can believe it is still that cold up here - when is summer EVER going to come to Vermont? I had a small pile of large branches that I was going to bring indoors to put on my wood pile and the bears actually chewed teeth marks in the larger branch.

How did I miss this????? Another neighbor saw a moose about 2,000 feet away from my home last week. I guess I am just going to have to sit outside 24/7 to watch and wait for the wildlife that I would love to see!

I suppose in the meantime, I will enjoy my bear and moose on my fireplace hearth, and my fire :)

The bear cubs were right here on my front lawn!

July 10th Update - 10 Bear Sightings in Stowe in the last 2 weeks! Come visit me please!

July 16th Update - The bear didn't visit me, I visited him! I finally found My Bear :)

Hella - My neighbor said that they were about the same size as my dog, Sadie. They are black bear and she is a black dog. I can just imagine her wandering in and joining them for a romp!

We don't have bears in the City, Lisa, but we have skunks and raccoons and a few coyotes in Golden Gate park. Definitely upload any photos as Kathleen suggested. I remember Grizzly Adams, you're dating yourself now, Lisa :)

Melanie, I LOVE Grizzly Adams. I have watched all of the episodes on dvd this month. I waited YEARS for them to put them on dvd and wish they had made more than two seasons. The scenery is breathtaking, the stories are so simple and most of them teach some sort of valuable life lesson - none of the glamour and glitz that is so prevalent in mainstream tv today. Just man and his bear living a simple life out in the wilderness. Sometimes I wish that could be me!

Just found out that someone three miles away had a full grown black bear walk into their garage today!

The woman saw the bear, got into her car and tried to close the garage door with the remote. Something was blocking the sensor so the bear walked into the garage while the woman was sitting in her car. The bear nosed around and left.

Things are pretty exciting here in Stowe this week!

Debbie, I just love having a fire as often as I can. It really lends ambiance to the mood and makes the home feel cozy. There is just something about it that I enjoy so much.

Lisa, I remember many years ago driving up to your part of the world to Stowe VT and seeing bears. What is hard to believe is that it is still Fireplace Weather:) as we are having a heat wave in Los Angeles!

Another bear sighting today! A mother and her cub walked up someone's driveway and walked around the yard before entering the woods very close to a home I recently had listed. How exciting! When am I going to see my bear???

I even wrote a blog post about today being National Teddy Bear Picnic Day. You'd think that sending some Bear Love their way would bring the karma over here :)

Maybe one or two will wander over to the Stowe Hot Air Balloon Festival this weekend!
