Okay, I am totally falling off the wagon here and writing a Social Post ! Yup, that's right this has absolutely nothing to do with Real Estate or does it ? I am sure there are parents out there with the spectacular moments I have had and who knows maybe they are looking to purchase or sell a home and are also inquiring about say maybe, education, parent teacher conferences. Maybe someone will stumble across my "social" non Real Estate related blog and think....wow, she's a Realtor, but she's a Mom and hey...she's human too !

So anyway. Today, was the day after effect of the funk. I had the most horrible stomach flu yesterday that hit me like a mac truck....by the way..anyone get that license plate number ? I went to bed at 3:00 in the afternoon and got up at 5:00am this morning to try and start my day over today. YUCK ! Totally delirious, weak and starving..yet not daring to eat a thing...as the smell is enough to make me want to go back to bed...I went to the office, tried to pull myself together and get some work done...that didn't work out very well for me ! I then had to attend a parent - teacher conference with my oldest son's teachers...I have learned never, never attend a parent - teacher conference when you are post the funky flu...

So, first up was my son's Science teacher. She proceeds to tell me how Josh is a great kid. Only he won't apply himself to his fullest. That his B could be an A if only he would give it his all. I nod in agreement thinking okay , well , at least he's passing ..right...which I know in my head wow, that B could be an A if only he applied himself more...only I can't get it into words ( because our conference room is right next door to the cafeteria...oh my...not good )  and the teacher is looking at me like, great, Mom won't apply herself either...

Then we move on to the Keyboarding teacher. Okay, so I have basically flunked out on the Science teacher, the Math teacher didn't have much to say since he has an A..and his ROTC instructor didn't show because he was at home with the funk flu....So........his Keyboarding teacher proceeds to tell me that Josh while typing is only typing with one hand, while his other hand is everywhere rather than the keyboard. That if he would stop making careless mistakes and hit the back button and "fix" his mistakes than he would have a better grade....Alrighty then...so what do I say.....

*****************************   Do they have spell-check ??????  *************************

At that very moment I new I know flunked keyboarding and this poor teacher is probably thinking " Now, I know where the kid gets it from ?

So needless to say..I will not attend parent teacher conferences post the funk flu EVER !

You poor baby!!! Rough day! I hope you're feeling better now. BTW, that's the standard teacher saying...doesn't apply himself...yady,yady and really it means she's not doing HER job. Don't forget that dear. Take care and I loved the social post. Deb

Funky Flu!  I've been down with the not-stomach kind for days.  I hope you get back up to speed faster than I am.  Josh sounds like he's doing fine.  Tell the kid to text something and watch his fingers fly!  I have a son who is doing fine, but could apply himself more.  It's not the teacher, it's him.  But he got accepted to his first choice college and knows he can't screw that up.  They will all be just fine.  Feel better!

Melissa, I hope you get to feeling better as well.  We all have had those bad days and I am sure you didn't fail anything.  Give Josh a pat on the back from his Razorback friend for the B in Science.  It was not my subject!!!

Melissa- My wife and I attended them for my son from 1st grade until 8th grade. We always heard the same thing. Your son is very bright, but, he is disruptive in class. Talks all the time. We don't want to stifle his creativity. On our way to the 8th grade conference we were discussing that we were going to hear the same thing we hear every year. Yep, the teacher said it verbatim and my wife and I started laughing. We didn't make a good impression with her. It was easy, give him more to do. I hope you beat the Flu.

Get better Melissa. Sometimes you just have to let the world pass you by for a day or two or ten! Of course when you are "mom" that is tough!

Melissa:  The funk flu and stressful times with teachers are not a good combination.  I don't know how many times I went into a parent-teacher conference perfectly fine and came out with the funk flu.  Sounds like you've got a pretty good kid... we want them to be perfect, but, it's not a perfect world.

Melissa - My hats off to you to even make it to the parent teachers conference with the flu in tow!! As for the grades and keyboarding teacher...I say cheers to your son for doing such a great job! I hae a junior this year and she seems to want to make school all about social...we are making progress and this progress report was the best ever.... I smell...driving in her future... (the last of the privileges she has yet to partake of).... Hope you are feeling better and past your flu!!

Oh well, in 10, 20 years it really won't matter in terms of the outcome for your son.

Gilbert - I thought I was the only "hateful" parent who didn't allow driving "privelages" until they met the grade ! Good for you...

Melissa - You know I am another "hateful" parent on the driving issue too. Chris may be in college before he drives..lol! I love this stroy when you told it to me, great post! Next time tell them they flunked post flu etiquette which clearly states, "never put a poft flu victim next to the school cafeteris!"

Melissa,

I think your son is doing a great job!  OK, so he has a B in Science.  Maybe he doesn't have a huge interest in that subject.  Personally, a B is acceptable.  Been through it with both my kids.  We all can't be perfect.
