Coloring is a great way to keep kids occupied.

Whether they’re your—or your clients’—children, the fact of the matter is they’re there. And they need to be entertained. Err on the side of safety and arm yourself with an artillery of fun activities to engage young children, so you grown-ups can get down to business.

Running an open house? Luckily, open houses are one of the easiest places to keep children entertained because you’re in a home—you have access to fun things. Run to the store and invest in a No Mess Marker & Paper Set . It’s worth $10 to keep kids entertained and not have to worry that they’re drawing all over those recently painted walls or new carpet.

You might also consider purchasing some activity books with puzzles, mad libs, and coloring pages.

If you’re showing a home with a television—even better; flip the telly to a kid-friendly channel and sit back and let the electronic babysitter do its thing. Just don’t forget to hide the remote once the channel is set.

However, if you’re in the car touring around the community with your client, you will need to provide some quick, easy, and clean activities. Not to mention, parents will be impressed with your thoughtfulness.

Again, this is the perfect opportunity to invest in No Mess Markers, because you probably don’t want scribbles all over your nice leather seats, but if you don’t care by all means grab some regular markers. Consider staying away from crayons, because if you leave them in the car there is a good chance they’ll melt and give you a migraine of a mess. If you’re not willing to invest in ink-free markers, colored pencils are probably your second best bet.

While you’re at the store, grab a colorful folder or activity box to keep all your kiddie-goodies in, and also give the child something to bear down on while coloring in the car. If coloring isn’t your style, perhaps bring your laptop and some DVDs along. No child can resist cartoons.

Print out these activity sheets, put them in your goodie folder and entertain away!
