As I mentioned in my last blog, I liked the Apothic Red wine. So, of course I HAD to try it's sister wine Apothic White. I am sad to say that I personally was not as impressed with the Apothic White.
The Apothic White is a blend that uses Chardonnay, Riesling, and Moscato grape varieties. I found the wine to be smooth and quite buttery. However, for me, I found it to be just a bit on the sweet side for my taste. This obviously comes from the Moscato portion of the blend, and I'm not saying that it was an objectionable wine, just too sweet for me.
Realistically, I don't think that it would be a great wine with dinner, but as a dessert wine it may do very nicely. Apothic Wine is advertised as having the aromas of tropical fruit (ok, maybe), honeysuckle (oh yeah) and vanilla (again, just too sweet).
I think that Apothic White would probably be a great selection if you have a party. There are always those people that can't handle a dryer red, and I think that this wine would be a great alternative, especially considering it's moderate price.
At about $10, this wine is a great choice if you do not care for the dryer wines available.
