On the way to Connecticut to visit my mom, I took a few minutes to cast my vote.  Virginians had their primary almost two weeks ago and the turnout was terrific.

Voting, for my precinct, was held at the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department on Partlow Road.  It is the same place where I've been going to vote since moving to Lake Anna in 1992.  There have been times that I have worked outside in support of candidates so it is a familiar place.Spotsy Fire Dept

What makes it nice is that most of the poll workers have been there each and every time I've gone.  Today seemed like a good time to take their picture.  I promised to make them notorious by posting it on my blog so here they are.

Polling Staff

It requires a commitment to be there for each and every time we get to vote.  The day starts very early and runs into the evening.  Everyone that does this helps to preserve our democracy.  That goes for all those that vote also.  We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to make our choices known.

Thank you, Poll Workers, whereever you are.  Please know how much you are needed and appreciated.

Way to go.  I have always taken my children with me to vote to set a good example.  I want them to understand that we live in a country where it is a privilege to be able to voice our opinion.  Thank you for voting, and yes thank those pollworkers everywhere who work long hours and tirelessly with out many thanks.  Thanks for remembering to say thank you!

Maria...Voting is such a good thing.  I always feel better when I vote and I've been doing it for many, many years now.  It always surprises me that more people don't.  Good that you are teaching your children the importance of voting.  Hopefully they always will.

Thanks for coming by and commenting.

The smart agents are also poll workers. I have a good friend/agent who is and does it at every election.

They do indeed have long days and are definitely to be commended for their contribution to our country. I never thought about photographing them, in fact I didn't know you could.

Rich...I asked first.  Of course they hadn't been asked before but they liked the idea.  Hence the pose.

Three of the women are friends of mine that I have known for years.  All five of the women have worked this particular polling place as long as I can remember.  I have fun with them because I am definitely in the minority (politically) in this part of the universe and they all know it.

Cheers,

Kathleen
