Green Cay Wetlands- Boynton Beach FL -Things to Do in Palm Beach County.

You don’t have to go far to find some of the most interesting wildlife in Palm Beach County.  Green CayGreen Cay Wetlands is located just west of Delray and Boynton Beach on Hagen Ranch Road.

There are 100 acres built on former farmland with a 1.5 mile elevated Green Cayboardwalk that is open to the public daily from 7am to sunset.

I think the best time to go is early in the morning, just as the birds are waking up.  This can be when they’re the most active.  There are also dedicated walkers out all through the day as well as photographers of all ages.

Inside the Nature Center is a log where anyone visiting can log in any species they see.  When you go in, be sure to ask to see this log.  You’d be surprised at what’s out at Green Cay.

I don't know Kathy staying a good distance from some of the animals you encounter down there is the better part of judgment. :)

Good morning, Kathy -- there's nothing like a morning walk to put things into perspective and put a nice start to the day.

Sheila- I love the Roseate Spoonbills.  They're such a treat when you do see them.

BarbaraT- I wish you would!  I was thinking of you as I was taking the pics of the gator.

BARFF- we would love to take you.

Wayne-  it is an excellent place to take a breath and leave your worries at the gate.

James-    with the exception of snakes, it's very safe!!!

Dorie -   I take the assumptive approach, if it's not the ocean, you can assume there's a gator in the water.

Michael- I love starting the day with a walk.  Makes the rest of it go so much easier.

Barbara- the gator nests are there so in a few months, I'll be looking for the babies.

Bobbie-  they're out there, we just have to look for them

Scott- give me a call... I'll give you a tour!!!

Kristin-  even the bobcats are pretty safe.  They're more scared of us!

Kathy-You must live near an animal sanctuary. You have so many great photos of all sorts of animals. Or you have a good eye for capturing nature and your camera aim in quick and sure. Nice.

Alexandra- If you get to this coast I would be honored to show you Delray Beach!

Karen-  I can't believe we never went there when we lived in Leesburg.

Sharon- you would love it.  We saw a gator guarding her nest today so we should have babies in 6+ weeks.

Wayne- if only you could see how many I've missed!  This Wetlands area is 10 minutes from home.  And we're very close to the edges of the Everglades so we have many interesting birds.

Lou- just went there today and will go again next week!
