I’d Be Rich If Chiggers Bought Houses.

They, and other insects, are coming to most of my showings this time of year.

Just last weekend my buyer clients and I both got eaten up after, we think, we walked down a cellar stairwell through a patch of chopped-down ivy.

Most of us have kits in the trunk of the car with items such as a flashlight, first aid items, tape measure, hammer, etc.  Remember to add insect repellant to your kit this time of year and offer it to your clients.

It might be good if you are the listing agent to ‘bug bomb’ the front porch or wherever the lock box is located, so that the visiting agent and clients don’t get bitten by mosquitoes and spiders which may be hanging out in the area and waiting for juicy human skin to bite.

Put clear fingernail polish over the bites 3-4 times a day. This suffocates them and heals much faster than anything.

Lori, I used clear fingernail polish and 1% hydrocortizone cream, and that helped a lot. I couldn't sleep the first night for the itching.  Doing some reading, there are tons of remedies, and some sources say that the fingernail polish is not helpful. But it worked for me, or at least I give it credit.  :)

Since I love hiking though the woods, I always come back from the mountains with bites.  Have yet to find a cure or remedy to prevent them.  Still I will not stop doing what I love to do, just have to put up with the results.

Yikes, what an ordeal.  I once went into a house infested with flees, luckily, I was able to de-flee myself immediately, but never a fun experience.

Sarah, a concoction I continue to use is a solution of half apple cider vinegar and water, saturate a wash cloth and place on the affected areas. Think you mind find this to be quite soothing.  Works on dogs too!

Jackie bites are one of the occupational hazards, aren't they?  And like Bet I have found all kinds of home remedies, and the internet has even more in a search. Oh, and Kathy, fleas are a horror too. Almost as bad as chiggers. There irritating, but also disease carrying too.
