Capturing Our World, One Moment In Time

I took this photo a couple weeks ago while visiting Mystic Seaport. As I looked in the lens, I felt like I was taking a view of our past and what it must have been like so many decades ago. It was a picture perfect day and this sight added to what was already such a beautiful Seaport in Connecticut.

Thankfully those with a vision to our future were able to help recreate and preserve the past and provide us with a pathway to our future. It was a simple time then not complicated with much to distract from just the simple joy of being alive.

William. This is incredible. It reminds me of a show I saw outside of treasure island in Las Vegas where performers dove off the old ship and into a lagoon.

I love the old ships and how well they were built.  but I am amazed at the courage these people had to actually cross the oceans with them.

Very cool boat!  Just imagine that they used to build those things without the aid of modern tools and without computers to guide them.  They were built with hand tools and craftsmen who apprenticed for years to learn how to use them.

William  -  I love those old sailing vessels!  The photo is picture perfect!  I don't know though about it being a simpler time.  Life was pretty tough and unforgiving in those times.  Slower paced perhaps but not easy.

William,

This is a great photograph. A few months ago I found an old photo of a similar ship like that I took in Williamsburg, VA several years ago. The quality of my photograph was outstanding, like yours. Back then, when I took the picture, I didn't have a digital camera and it was the only photo I had. I always thought I'd have it turned into a canvas photo and never got around to it. Recently my printer wasn't working and I bought a new one but I left the photograph under the lid while I was trying to the new printer to work. I returned the printer with my photo still in there but when I went back to get it, they said they shredded it. I was not happy!

Lesson learned - if you take a great photo and you plan to do something with it, do it! Don't wait because it may be too late.

Your trip to New England sounds like it was wonderful!

William, this is just beautiful.  One of my nephews worked on these old ships during the summers he was in college.  Now he has his own business moving these and other ships up and down the west coast for people.  Beautfful photo.
