PopClip is a humble little app that quite simply makes working on the computer easier.
Install PopClip and it runs continually in the background. Then whenever you highlight text, you get a whole list of action choices: Cut, Copy, Paste, Email, Capitalize first letters of all words, small cap all letters of all words, save to Evernote, and more. Plus you can add extensions (for free!) that give you additional choices.
Although PopClip may seem a minor convenience, it allows you to cut, copy, paste, capitalize, etc., with the mouse -- no need to use the left hand keyboard commands. If you do a lot of copying and pasting from one page to another, as I do, PopClip makes the process quicker and easier.
PopClip is also intuitive. If you have just used Cut or Copy, the next time you click to enter text you get the option Paste. If spellcheck has flagged a misspelled word, highlight it and PopClip will give you the correct spelling. If you highlight a web address -- even if not linked! -- PopClip will take you there. If you click on an email address -- even if it's not linked! -- PopClip will open an email message to that address.
PopClip is available from the iTunes App Store for $4.99 when it's not on sale for $1.99. Extensions are free and there are almost 100 to choose from. Many are generic; for example, Quotes adds quotation marks at both ends of the highlighted text. Others are program- or app-specific. For example, Things creates a new to-do in Things; LinkedIn looks up a highlighted name in LinkedIn; Wikipedia looks up the highlighted text in Wilipedia.
