Many of my clients serve on juries. I know because when I send them an email, I get admonished in a return email. They say things like, I told you I would be on jury duty and cannot answer your email in a timely manner. Except I did not ask them to answer my email in a timely manner, and I did not expect an instant response. So, I am left to ascertain that serving on a jury does horrible things to your brain -- it makes people nervous and fidgety and worried that they will do something wrong. That would probably be a normal response.
It's also part of being an American citizen. As a citizen, part of my duties include the duty to vote, the duty to pay taxes and the duty to serve on a jury. If I were accused of something and had to go to court, I would like to be judged by a jury of my peers. But maybe not. Maybe I would prefer a jury made up of doofuses. It's hard to say because I'm not in that position. You can see where I'm going with this, right?
