Here’s Why You Never Follow-Through (And How To Fix It)

In business many of us don't Follow Through with our clients and prospects.

That's why I've developed a program I call Appreciation Marketing. There are a number of aspects to Appreciation Marketing including sending cards. Dr. Ivan Misner, the Founder & Chairman of BNI, the world's largest business networking organization, wrote a blog post titled "Send a Thank-You Card."

Dr Misner wrote “A simple thank-you card may not sound like going the extra mile. To many people, however, it truly is. The old-fashioned, personalized, handwritten thank-you card has been largely replaced by e-mail. When was the last time you received a traditional, handwritten thank-you card? What was your reaction? If you’re typical, you were pleasantly surprised, and you appreciated the sender’s time and effort.”

Joan - I agree but with the Appreciation Marketing system I use I don't just select a card, I'm able to quickly design a customized card to send them and I can do it all from home. i's sent via old fashioned snail mail and I know puts a smile on the face of the person receiving it.

Bill - For me it's not hard to sit down and do it because all my customized cards are done on my computer at home. I do the cards while I'm at the computer doing other things. With the Appreciation Marketing system I use I can send a customized card or select a "stock" cards from thousands of choices. Once I have selected the card the system (not at my house but done for me) prints the card, prints and seals the envelope, puts postage on the card and takes it to the post office,  Simple, inexpensive and easy - that;s how I like it.

Gary - The old has become the new. So few people send cards that the people who get them really appreciate them. With the Appreciation Marketing system I use i select or make a customized card and the printing, stuffing, addressing, stamping and mailing is done for me at another location. That's what i call High Tech - High Touch.

I use an Appreciation Marketing system that combines high tech with high touch allowing me to send a custom card via old fashioned snail mail from my computer.

Michelle - Keep working on “A simple thank-you card may not sound like going the extra mile. To many people, however, it truly is."  It can be fun, easy to do and people love getting cards via old fashioned snail mail. The Appreciation Marketing system I use allows me to create and send cards from my computer. I create or select the card and all the "heavy lifting including printing, stuffing, postage and mailing is done for me at an incredibly inexpensive cost.

Nina - I agree. Sending a note is so old that it's become new again. I send a lot of customized personal cards using my Appreciation Marketing system.

Edward and Celia - For some many people sharing a personal touch is a lost art. Sending a card is now so old that it is new. I use an Appreciation Marketing system to send cards that is both High Tech and High Touch. I design and send the card from my computer. The system has an off site location that does the printing, addressing, stuffing, stamping and mailing for me. I never have to leave my desk to send a card via old fashioned snail mail. And the people who get them love them.

Shari - Maria presents the concept in a fun simple way. I loved her video and had to share it. The Appreciation Marketing system I use makes it easy and fun to get back in the habit of sending cards. You can create a customized card or select from thousands of "stock" cards. This is all done from your computer. The system has an off site location that prints the card for you, stuffs and addresses the envelope, stamps the card and then takes it to the post office. This can be done in less than a minute and is sun to do. I love sending cards.

The power of a personal note is very underused in our industry. Concentrate on the personal touches and it will pay off. I believe that most people understand there is an ease to automation and almost expect to get contact from agents that are automated but when it IS personal it counts more than the 12 contacts they got through automation. Hope you have a great holiday weekend.

John - I couldn't agree more. If your handwriting is like mine I find it hard to do a handwritten note. That's why I was glad when a real estate agent introduced me to the Appreciation Marketing system. It allows me to send a personal card that is both high touch and high tech. The cards are created on the computer and I they are printed, stuffed, addressed, stamps and mailed from a central site for me. And they're not just for business. I sent a custom card to my daughter that had a picture of her riding on the 4th of July with a picture of her on the horse. She recently started a new job so I sent her another card with a picture of her new desk she sent me with an email along with a personal note telling her how proud I was of her. I did the first card at 11:00 at night on the 4th, Both cards were much more personal than a card I could have gotten at the store and I never had to leave home to send either card.

Bob Crane - Follow-up is important. I have a presentation on Appreciating Marketing. In it is a slide that shows only 20% of sales are made on the first 4 contacts. 80% of sales come on contacts 5 -12.
