Attention all St. George, UT and Washington County residents, you can qualify for a $75 rebate just by replacing your toilet with a WaterSense model. Rebates like this are created to help residents in Southern Utah to replace their water guzzling toilets for newer, water-efficient ones. A water-efficient model is certified in performance and saves water through the Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program.
When it comes to water consumption, toilets that are not water-efficient are by far the worst water abusers there is. In Utah alone, non-water-efficient toilets account for over 30 percent of the average home’s water use. Toilets like these are also a huge source for wasted water in many homes.
Statistics show that over your lifetime, the average toilet is flushed over 140,000 times. So, if you replace your old toilet for a newer model that is WaterSense labeled you will save and save big. This model of toilet will save over 4,000 gallons of water each year. However, this is based on a family of four. Each family that does upgrade will save an average of $90 per year on water utility bills, which averages out to nearly $2,000 over the lifetime of the toilet.
You can get more information on the program at: www.WCWD.org. Or, you can call 435-673-3617. And, if you like the idea of a community that tries to stay earth friendly, visit St. George to find your dream home.
