When it comes to buying a house there are a few things you need to know as you begin the mortgage process. The first thing you need to do is find a good lender. This is actually much easier than you think; You shoud look for someone who is local and preferably nearby that way they can stay in good contact and communicate with you easily. The second step is where I'd like to focus today - that's on the pre-approval process. Getting pre-approved is actually pretty easy. Here are some of the things that you will need to provide to get your pre-approval.
- Your full legal name.
- Your Social Security Number.
- Your employment history.
a. including your title, salary and the length of time you've been working there
- Your Rental History/mortgage history for the past 2 years.
- We need to know if you had any of the following
a. bankruptcy
b. repossessions
c. foreclosures
d. credit repair
- If you have a coborrower we'll need all the same information listed above for them.
Once we've gathered all that information we'll check your credit and if you've got a good credit score we can proceed in collecting your documentation, but we'll talk about that another time!
