Our 4th of July May be Saved for Fireworks in a starry night sky!:
Flooding rains since Monday's "microburst" event raised the water table and flooded basements, but will T-storms dampen the fireworks on the the 4th? Survey and forecasters say "No,"...we'll by high and dry on Independence Day.

So, good news party goers ~ the severe storms that drenched our week and raised the area's overburdened water table may have passed...until Friday. But, more importantly, we'll get to enjoy relatively dry fireworks in Westchester County and at the Macy's display in NYC!
Here's the latest & greatest, so you can remember that rain poncho, plastic bags and a blanket "in case" before leaving tomorrow for local fireworks ~ 20% is only a slight chance of showers and the Accuweather forecast above is pretty rock solid for July 4th!:
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Independence Day: Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Humid with highs in the upper 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy. Humid with lows in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. Hot. Humid with highs in the lower 90s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Heat index values in the mid 90s in the afternoon.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the lower 70s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.
So that takes us into the weekend, happy campers. But, note the 90s on Friday and need for plenty of water for you, the kids, your pets. Oh, BTW, don't let me catch anyone leaving their pooch in a hot vehicle.
Just get all of your 2 and 4-legged loved ones the shade and water they need, especially if you're outside in a FAV fireworks spot most of the day tomorrow!
Firedog takes a cool shower!
A puppy in Atlanta was left outside in a crate and almost died. Grrr, sorry, doggie mom here...we have hairy children with tails.
So, this little terrier mix made it with 15 minutes to spare in the heat of Virginia Beach. A teenage boy saw the crate, checked the dog and biked it like crazy to the nearest vet. The little guy is now okay and up for adoption in VA.

Never light fireworks indoors or near dry grass.
- Keep a bucket of water and/or a fire extinguisher nearby if you have to have those sparklers out - Note: they burn at 1,200 degrees & EMS reports lots of burns each year.
- Do not wear loose clothing while grilling or cooking, even outdoors...it's flammable.
- Use caution with lighter fluid when starting your barbecue. Don't add fluid to hot coals - they can "flashback" to the container and explode.
- Never grill / barbecue in enclosed areas, like a garage, as carbon monoxide can be produced and can be harmful to your health!
