Just ahd to write this on the spur of the moment.
I am in a small town waiting for the yearly parade.
The locals are very friendly and soo the parade will pass us by. Candy and other gifts will be given out and the kids will be scrambling to get every piece they can.
While all the hoop-la is going on, I think back 200+ years and think what our founding fathers went through to start this great Nation.
There is no way to re-pay for sacrifice, but to honor their memory.

There is a special magic in a small town celebration thats for sure. My town is not the small town it was when I grew up but the memories are still there. Happy 4th
Yes! Actually had not the Pilgrims and the Puritans fled England we'd all be British subjects.
JULY 4th - The day we remember ALL those that participated in the establishing of our country. I pray we do remember and commit ourselves to similar action in the preservation of the principles of our foundation
William, your area sounds so much like mine. We are enjoying the parade and of course the candy.

Great reminder, William. There is no better celebration than a small town celebration...in my humble opinion.
Small towns may not have huge doings, but they are the backbone of the country.
I would not even try to go to a medium sized town during the holiday. Money is all itis about.
