Sing a song, a patriotic song on this 4th of July. There will be many parades and fireworks displays today that will be featuring many of our most patriotic songs. When you hear the melody do you sing along? So what is your favorite?
Is it "The Star Spangled Banner" (Our National Anthem)?
Is it "America the Beautiful"?
Is it "God Bless the USA"?
Is it "My Country Tis of Thee"?
Is it "The Stars and Stripes Forever"?
Is it "Philadelphia Freedom"?
Is it "Born in the USA"?
Is it "This is My Country"?
Is it "Yankee Doodle Dandy"?
Is it "The Battle Hymn of the Republic?
Is it "This Land is Your Land"?
So many of the above list has a special memory for me. As a Girl Scout, I marched in many local parades. I could always hear the marching bands playing many of these classics. I have always had an appreciation for the message that these songs hold and still do to this day. I feel blessed to be a citizen and am forever grateful to my Great Grandparents that had the courage to leave their homes in search of a better life.
So, on this 4th of July celebration, sing a song, a patriotic song!
