My cell phone rang a few days ago with a call from a prospective client visiting my Gainesville, Haymarket homes for sale web site. He indicated he was looking to purchase a home soon but was concerned about his Credit Score being too low and didn't think he would qualify for a Mortgage.
I urged him to go to My Fico and learn about Credit Scores, the role a Credit Score will play when making purchases on Credit and even more specifically, discover what his Credit Score really is. I shared with him that NOT KNOWING his Credit Score is NOT BETTER. Knowing his Credit Score will actually help to put him on the path to Home Ownership. Finally, I suggested he contact a Loan Officer, gave him some suggested names and contact information.
He followed my suggestions and with the exception of a couple very minor financial issues to clear up, will be able to purchase a home before the end of the summer.
So What Is The Lesson Here?
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER IN REAL ESTATE - especially when it comes to finance and more specifically your Credit Score! There are NO shortcuts here.

Great advice and before anyone gets in my car to look at homes, I make sure they have a strong grasp of their financial condition and usually I request a pre-approval letter.
