Great Deal On A Tablet PC

By
Real Estate Agent with Trademark Realty Group of Palm Coast

If you've ever looked into buying a Tablet PC, you've probably noticed the prices are high and very difficult to find under the $2000.00 range.  I've been keeping my eye on them and constantly checking, and found the best deal I've seen yet . . . The Gateway C-141X.  The specs are great with a Pentium Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive for $999 plus a $70 off coupon (kind of a wacky thing, but it's there!) bringing the price to $929.  This is a full-size laptop with the tablet feature with a decent weight of 6.2lbs.  Yup, I ordered it immediately.  I have used a similar model that Gateway put out before that another Realtor had and it's been very reliable for them.

Thanks for the great post, David and I just went to a home inspector CE class and the guy had one there and really liked it.  David was trying to decide if he would like that better than the PDA that he carries around.  I'll have to check it out.

The feedback across the industry on the functionality of a Tablet is great.  I've seen and used one before in the field and it defintely adds in tremendous abilities in regards to documents (i.e. capturing signatures on contracts in the field).  Add-in the air-card (which I just recently got as well) and you have broadband internet access anywhere and anytime without relying on Wi-Fi hotspots.  I've been really impressed with the quick connection and speeds using the aircard as well.

Kathy - Best of luck with your new tablet PC!  I would like to see our industry move towards a paperless process and the tablet PC would certainly facilitate this.

Joseph,

I just received the laptop the other day and my husband (my tech guy too) set it up and transferred my data over.  We went through the processes and it's pretty easy to use.  There is some simple file conversions for signings, but it's very simple to learn.  The program that allows you to do this is called Windows Journal.  The nice thing about this program is that in addition to the file conversion, it can also be a simple notepad.  So you can easily take notes while out in the field with a customer.  Less to carry.  "Paperless" does have a ton of benefits but you just have to remember to backup things up and I do keep hard copies in files just in case.
