I have covered a lot of alternative sources of energy with Wind Power and Solar Energy, but nothing is more captivating to me than what has been coming along for several years now as a potential power source for millions of people everywhere.  Completely clean energy that creates no greehouse emissions in it's production.  Energy that is created through the power of waves at the surface of the ocean and currents in the mouths of rivers and bays.

The NBC clip below says it all.

This will be come even more important as potential for electricty generation from our nations dams becomes more and more scarce as is published in this recent study.

How cool is that!  I've seen some of this stuff before...I wonder when they are going to come into their own?

Andrew, awesome, thanks for sharing. That's a fantastic idea, why didn't we think of that! Can't believe the current was so strong that it broke 2 of the turbines in the river. The wave one was intriguing to me.

Hydro electric power from areas like Churchill Falls in Newfoundland provides much of the power in Quebec and the northern US. Currently once the lower Churchill is developed it will be providing power hopefully at cheaper prices to more customers in Canada and the US. I think researchers are also looking into the Bay of Fundy as well. Thanks for the post.

It sound good at first. But I just can not take away an image of metal stuff with cables all other the ocean . Do you see an image if dolphins checking it out? Is it safe for the fish? Any type of electricity in the water is a potential danger.
