Jacksonville on List of Cities where Square Foot Price Skyrocketing
Jacksonville is on another list, and this time it's a good one, published by Movoto's national housing report, which says the national average per square foot price is $181.
We are #10 in the top 11 list of cities where square foot prices are skyrocketing. Mind you, we are the most affordable at $90 a square foot, which is an increase of 18.4% since last year. #11 Atlanta is at $150 a square foot at also 18.4% increase year over year.
Of the top 11 cities, five are in California. Sacramento is #1 at $153 a square foot, up from $91 a square foot last year, a 68.1% increase since last year. Oakland is #3, Los Angeles #5, Long Beach #6, and San Diego #8.
There are two in Arizona: Phoenix #2 and Mesa #4, with 44.8% and 37.2% year over year.
Rounding out the list are Las Vegas, #7 and Boston, #9, which is the highest per square foot at $468, a 19.1 % increase.
Jacksonville is one of 9 cities in the nation where institutional investors are buying homes, and was one of the first cities noted by Trulia as being more affordable to buy than rent, so this isn't the first time our fair city has been recognized for its value.
