Hey everyone, I have a question,

After reading Scotts post about surviving when it's slow, I thought a little bit about Foreclosure inspections. This seemed to make sense to me since I live in Indiana and we are ranked numero uno in Foreclosures. I came across this website the other day http://www.foreclosurebankinspector.com/ and being the sceptic that I am, wasn't sure if this was a scam or not. I was wondering is anyone else either has seen this, knows about this, or has done this before. Is this for real?

Thanks for any feedback

If it looks like a duck walks like a duck and knows where the pond is. I think it is a duck. am writing this letter to advise you that your organization has a banner advertisement/link exchange with a known fraudulent company.

Your NACHI link appears on the website http://www.foreclosurebankinspector.com (http://www.foreclosurebankinspector.com/)

The website and company is known in the insurance and mortgage field services industry as a ‘scammer' and fraudulent business. This company preys on unknowing individuals who are not familiar with this industry. The company misleads individuals into believing they will become a contractor or subcontractor for their company after they pay $89.00 for a ‘kit'. The company also misleads individuals into believing they can earn $250.00 for performing a simple bank foreclosure inspection that generally does not take more than 10 minutes to perform.

Once a ‘kit' is sent, the company then requires the individuals to become a member of another association, at the rate of $12.00 per month.

As a licensed home inspector in the state of Texas, and having a local NACHI chapter in my area that I know members of, I was shocked to see NACHI associated with this website.

Sincerely,

J azoly

You should check on Millenium services, who I have done some work for. They will hire anyone with a clean background check (which at least they do pay for) and will hire you as a subcontractor to do these inspections. I no longer work for them, bit I saw foreclosurebankinspectors.com in our local (Sarasota Florida) paper, and went to their website cause it sounded, in this economy, as a good job. Fortunately, when I went to their website and saw the $89.00 fee, I googled foreclosure inspector and found this site and others talking about this scamming company. Needless to say, after looking at yours and other similar sites, I will not be considering it. I wish there was a way to keep this from happening to people that don't check these things and just send these frauds a check. Thank you for caring enough to spend the time to "out" frauds like this

I JUST SENT AWAY FOR THE KIT AND PAID THE MONEY LAST WEEK

IT LOOKS LIKE I WAS TAKEN AND WITH TIMES AS HARD AS THEY ARE RIGHT NOW I WISH I WAS IN HIS STATE TO SHOW HIM MY FEELINGS ABOUT BEING RIPPED OFF.

LENNY
1:48pm • #5

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Lenny. I myself was considering purchasing the Kit, but after doing much research on ALL online sites offering jobs at home etc.....I found out that it always important to remember that a good company will never ask you to pay them. If a service is needed, a company will pay you, and not require up-front cost/fees.

However, if anyone does know of a good work-at-home service/ business, or means of making money at home, please let me know.

RE: Foreclosurebankinspector.com--BEWARE--I paid $89 for their background check--I did this while unemployed and desperate--which is what this company preys on--they say they will accept the "top 4 applicants out of 25" that apply (petainnig to tests they send you in an application packet)--I know for a fact that I got a perfect score on the "contractors exam" they sent. Then they tell you to call them (yes YOU have to call THEM within 10 days  after you mail the application. For Florida apps, you get a bogus voice mail telling you to calll the hiring lady in Tennessee. It says "if you don't hear back in 72 hours you were not accepted", So I called the Tennesse lady--voice mail said "I get over 500 messages, so my mailbox might be full." "If you get my voice mail, call the number in Indiana"--at this point I realized it was a joke--but I called Indiana anyway--left another voice mail--never heard from them--I"M SO CAREFUL--mad at myself -thery are BS--and ripping people off for $89 left and right.

Thank goodness for the internet (I think). Since I am desperate for work and seeing forclosurebanksinspector in my local newspaper I figured this may be legitimate. If this was on CraigsList (and maybe it is) I would figure it to be a scam right off the bat. But since it was in the paper I decided to check it out online. A Google search with the website and subword of "scam" I found this and several other sites with information. SO MANY OF THEM! And I now believe this one is too. Thanks for saving me $89.

My wife gave me the add for this company to call and apply for a job. Since I have lost my job in the construction business this sounded like a good idea to her. Well since I am a sceptic I researched this. Like so many other "companies" they ask you to send them their $89 and than they will put you on a list. Even if you are desperate in these times the saying: If it sounds to good to be true, it is, this is the right approach. I am glad so many people did check on this and other scams and let everybody know. Just make sure to research all these opportunities on the internet, which saved me from sending them my now very hard earned money. Too bad these companies can't be dealt with so they couldn't pray on desperate people. So many of us are at the edge right now, nobody need these scam artists, so beware and good luck.

After reading these comments I called the girl back in their supposed brick and mortar office in Okemos, MI, and peppered her with questions.  She said they've sent rebuttals to these kinds of comments and actually do hire the four of 25.  She said the comments are from the disgruntled who didn't make the cut.  She pointed out she had encouraged me to the checks myself for free.  In her defense I will say she did not say ACT NOW.  In fact she said there were 11 spots left and it didn't appear I needed to rush before the 25 filled in my area.  I asked why the site looked like a mill for the 89 bucks.  She said she doesn't do the site.  I asked why they don't use more traditional methods.  She said she just doesn't know.  She said I could come visit the office if I wondered about their legitimacy.  I suppose I could try to do the free thing and see if I get it done while the app "period" is still open.

Thanks everyone!! I almost sent that $89 to. I am a licence Realtor in Florida. I make my money right now doing Broker Price Opinions (BPO's) on line. These companies pay me to do a drive by inspection and determine the homes present value. AND THEY PAY ME. $50-100 per home. So if you have a RE licence Google BPO and sign up with the companies. I made $2,300 this week. Oh never sign up with a company that asks for money. IT'S A SCAM

I saw your blog posting about foreclosed properties. We offer a great tool to help you in competitive REO listings. www.foreclosurefeedback.com . The Asset manager's can login and see all of the feedback on their REO properties, see what you are doing to market them and print reports to document the need for price reductions. Call in to sign up instead of online and tell them Rick said to give you the first 90 days for free to try it out at 858-270-1055 ext 113. If your competition doesn't offer this, you will definitely have a leg up on them.

I too saw the ad in the St.Pete Times, on and off over the last year or so. The ad  seems to run along the same time frame as a series of company Lay-offs, and big box store closings, Dealerships closing, you get the picture. Does anyone see "Desperation"....I was a bit skeptical at first since the ad stated that they can provide a background check for you for such a small fee, I would be very curious as to how they can do it for $89.00, and what proof do YOU get, that it was even done at all. My concealed carry permit background check through the city, county and state, FBI, FDLE,  cost me a total of $75 and that included fingerprints.

Someone else mentioned here earlier in the postings that make a lot of sense...An attorney will charge an outrageous fee for this, which then makes the $89  seem more reasonable...any one smell anything here.

Another item to point out: if you search the foreclosureBankInspectorDotCom website, you will see that they name specifically 4 major banks around the west central Florida area that are in urgent need of inspectors (un-licensed) "right away". I being the cynical b*stard I am, and I own several small business's, I bank with 2 of these banks and personally know people who work at the others, to which they all said..."What is this again? ", not to mention the fact that some of my customers are Real Estate agents, Property Appraisers, as well as Home Inspectors, when I asked them about this website and what it was all about, they ALL said the same thing...."IT"S ALL BS , a "SCAM" that will have the desperate, and un-knowing, going broke, $89 at a time. The banks, actually said they knew nothing about needing any inspections in this fashion, not to be confused with a "Home Inspection" provided by a NACHI certified company, which from what I understood, are 2 totally different things.   NACHI is legitimate, the other, "Most Likely is NOT"   I can't wait for the Banks to bring on a 200 million dollar lawsuit for defamation, namely.."Guilty by Association"   a sun trust individual wasn't very happy about their logo being used on a SCAM web site!   BEWARE !!!  DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!   LISTEN TO WHAT THE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD IS TELLING YOU   if your still not sure....Don't Do It !

You definitely need to listen to your instincts when you get that little feeling that something is just not right. This is what you get when they stopped hanging horse thieves. Eveyone should send these lowlifes a fake check on a non-existing account for $89.00. They will get charged $40.00 for a returned check fee and it will gum up their little scam.

Thanks for this website!  Having been a real estate appraiser, realtor and field inspector for the past 20 years, I know a scam when i see one!  A friend of mine informed me of the wwwfloreclosurebankinspectors.com ad for foreclosure inspections, 2 needed by local banks, in the Los Angeles Daily News.  $89.00 for background check.  I have been doing REO rehab inspections for the past few months, I work for an inspection company in Colorado, they email me an order, address, and lock box combo, and I go out to the address, and fill their form out, from room to room, and indicate approx. how much to repair, fix each room to bring it up to market condition for resale, I get paid $70.00 for each inspection, which takes about 20 minutes, then 15 minutes on the computer.  The fact that they are offering $250.00 for each foreclosure inspection is questionable, and the ones that I do are represented by a realtor, Real Estate Owned by a lender, I talked with some clown at the available numbers, and he did not even know what an REO was! What a scam!

Save your $89.00 for resumes, etc., or gas to find a real job, these people are major users of Preperation H, and probably use the money for a large warehouse to store it.

My name is Jon Gaskins and as of March 2009 I was taken in by the scam that is known as Foreclosurebankinspector.com  When I received the letter back stating that I was "hired" as a sub-contractor and not a contractor I was indeed surprised. After a few phone calls to Michigan they could not provide me with my test scores which I knew were 100%. They also wanted another $149 for "insurance" in which to become a sub-contractor. I have contacted several people that have been scammed by these people and they do not know of anyone that has ever applied to be sent back a letter stating they were hired as a contractor, nor does anyone know of anyone else that has ever gotten work from these people. I have already sent complaints to the Better Business Bureau as well as the newspapers to which they have sent out ads "fishing" for people. My next step is hopefully a class action lawsuit against Jay Vincent and his company. I will be meeting with an attorney this week to discuss what all needs to be done. I am asking that if any of you have any information, emails that you have received, letters that you have received; anything at all that can assist all of us in getting this company shut down please contact me at investinflorida@comcast.net or my cell phone at (904)465-3666.  I do not plan to stop until these people are stopped. I will also be notifying all the companies and the NBA that he is using their logo's on his websites. I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible. Thank you for your time.

I use to do inspections in Utah in 1983-85. The money was O.K. I was paid per inspection, for clean up, for repairs. Each one of those jobs had a diffrent fee. If there was any furniture left in the house, I had to sote it for 30 days before I could get rid of it. I was making  between $400- $600 a week.  I was a contractor so all my expenses came out of that.  It was good money at the time and I enjoyed the freedom. The guy that owned the company was making a lot of money. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down when he started putting the profits up his nose. If there was a legit offer for this type of work in my area, I'd jump on it.

Hey everyone,

You can make money at this, however you don't need to pay the $89 fee for a backround check. In most cases, if you do your homework, you can find a couple of national companies that will take you on as a sub. Be very careful of who you work for......there are a ton of small companies out there that contract for work from these bigger companies, sub it out to you and getting your funds can be a horror show. I have chased anywheres between 2 and 4k at a time, have only lost 1k and a ton of sleep to date....I put out the time, materials and resource to do the work, but the person you subbed from can't run thier business or the larger company they get work from goes under. Knowing this, I will only work for the large companies that are a real business, no guys sitting at there kitchen table....

Also, this business is crazy, you are talking to people who are losing there homes, or taking pictures of houses that are in bankruptcy. I have been chased, yelled at and stopped by police! If you are not somewhat thick skinned or able to handle irrate people, stay away from this!!
