Breck Bike Week.  If cycling is one of your passions, then be sure to visit Breckenridge this August 15 through 18 for Breck Bike Week.  This everything bikes festival is the 4th year running and boasts to have something for everyone, whether you are an avid cycler, mountain biker, or young child still learning, this free festival is loaded with fun.  Breckenridge is proud to be a cycling community and has been ranked as a Gold level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.  In order to qualify as a Bicycle Friendly Community there are different qualifications that must first be met, these include creating a safe and convenient place throughout the town for people to ride, educating the community and providing them with the knowledge and skills to ride safely, encourage a strong community that promotes cycling and recreation, ensuring the safety for all those on the roads, and planning through the city as having cycling as a safe transportation option.  Breckenridge offers both in-town cycling as a means of transportation and exercise as well as bike paths connecting to other Summit County towns, and extensive single track and backcountry mountain biking.

The 4th Annual "Breck" Bike Week provides lessons, bike demos, guided tours, competitions, children activities and more.  One fun mountain bike event is the Poker/Go Fish bike ride - hit the dirt and collect cards on marked trail rides highlighting the best single track in Breckenridge. The less intense Go Fish version is fun as a group, and all can celebrate at the after party with food, prizes and music.  There are also bike-in movies during the evenings.

"Breckenridge is a unique mountain resort in comparison to its neighbors in that it is an authentic historic mining town full of full-time outdoorsy residents who want nothing more than to introduce visitors to the bike paths, trails and roads that make up their backyard bike playground. Breck Bike Week will do just that. In addition, Breck is surrounded by a trail network the width and breadth of which is unsurpassed in North America, a resource the community is very committed to protect and preserve…while still enjoying it to its fullest.''
