Are You Waiting For The Right Moment?

Ice and snow, wind and low temperatures; these are the conditions we face in mid-February. Our instinct in winter is to huddle inside where it is warm and dry, keeping everything on hold as we wait for seasons to change and spring to arrive.

While winter may not seem like the best time to think about buyer or selling a home, there are things you can do now if you plan to get into the real estate market this spring.

Sellers:

  • Contact a Realtor you trust to act as your Sellers' Agent
  • Research to establish a realistic asking price for your property
  • Prepare your property for showing and eventual sale

Buyers:

  • Contact a Realtor you trust to act as your Buyers' Agent
  • Investigate your credit and repair it if necessary
  • Seriously consider your real estate needs and wants

Buyers and Sellers; It is tempting to sit warmly bundled with hot cocoa in hand as you wait patiently for spring, but making some preparations now will give you a jump start on spring activities.

Jealous here in SC.  We could use a little snow.  62 today!

Melissa - LOL I'm sure no one here would object to my sending a little of our snow your way.

Rosario, Good points, there is always work to do to prepare for the business you want in the Spring...I believe this is the best time to do the indoor work so I can be outside when the warm weather finally comes.

Rosario...Great advice and a great picture.  Both are very appropriate at this time of the year.

You've make a very good point. This time of year does afford prospective buyers and sellers an opportunity to prepare to achieve their objectives.

Isn't it the early bird that catches the worm? I think now is the perfect time to get ready for selling in the spring. Good reminders!

Carol -So true. Since we must spend most of our time indoors anyway, we may as well make the most of it.

Kathleen - Thanks. I took the photos for its beauty.

Derrick - We agree.

Teri - Yes, those early birds know what they are doing.

Rosario, this year the north is having significant winter and the south has had barely a flake. It is always a good time to buy or sell if that is the phase in your life. You are right about how people can get a jump on the spring market.

Gary - Weather ( like real estate) is local. Thanks for dropping by.

Beautiful picture. One of the nice things about blogging is that I'm paying more attention to pictures -- mine as well as others'. And good advice, though our local market is more year-round, we do slow down by necessity when there is a winter storm.

Ann - I also find myself more aware of photos and photo ops since joining AR. It's another interesting facet of participation.

Rosario - Great Advice.  Now is a good time to get the ball rolling so that when springs comes the house is ready for the market.

02/28/2008 10:17 PM by Jennifer Fivelsdal, Rhinebeck NY (Keller Williams Realty)

Jennifer - Buyers and Sellers don't always anticipate the amount of preparation necessary to insure a smooth and speedy transaction. The wise will use this time to prepare.
