Relocating to Baton Rouge, Louisiana? It's Pet Friendly! Baton Rouge Pets

Ruff. Purrr. Grrrr. Are you an animal lover? Are you relocating to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and are wondering what it has to offer your pet? I am here to assure you that Baton Rouge is "pet friendly" and welcomes you with open paws! You know, having a pet can be a huge responsibility. They have to be fed, walked everyday and loved on. But, what about all the other things. There's getting their hair done, going to the doctor, getting their teeth clean and sometimes needing a babysitter when mom and dad go on vacation. Here you will find valuable information for you and your precious pet.

Hair Dressers- Well, okay groomers. None of us want our dog to be the shaggy one on the block. It's important to keep your pet trimmed and looking fierce. Visit Di's Salon. She is sure to give your pet the special attention he/she needs. Di specializes in grooming cats and dogs. Also, Pet Smart does a great job of fluffing your precious one's hair.

The Doctor-  To keep your pet up to date with shots and annual check ups, it's important to take them to the doctor. Pets need medical attention just like us. Visit Kleinpeter Veterinary Hopistal for all your pet needs or you can also go to Park Forest Animal Hospital and Perkins Road Veterinary Hospital

The Dentist- Open Wide and Say Ahhh! We all hate it but we know we have to do it, pets do to. It's important to keep your pet's teeth nice and clean. If your pet is due for a cleaning, The Sherwood South Animal Hospital and Resort can help. I, personally, have taken my dog here several times and they are very loving.

Accessories- No, I'm not talking about earrings and a purse, it's dog accessories. You know, like leashes, dog food, toys and collars. A great place to find these things would be at Pet Smart. They also have a grooming department in their store, so you can shop and get their hair done at the same time. Viola!  Also, there is a new store opened in Hammond Aire. It's called Party Animals. I have looked in their window several times and all I have to say is wow! They have the cutest stuff ever for our little furry friend. Be sure to go visit!

Emergency- It's late at night and something has happened, you don't know who to call. Well, now you do. It's the Baton Rouge Pet Emergency Hospital. They are located on Cottondale Dr, off of Airline Hwy. They have regular office hours but cater to emergency care. Their number is (225)925-5566

Pet Shop- If you are looking to buy a furry friend, you can visit "Noah's", "Petland", or "Paradise Pet Shop". These stores have more than just furry friends. They have fish, reptiles and more!

Babysitter- Sometimes you just need a getaway, and that's okay. You want to be able to leave and know that your pet will be in good hands. No problem. The neatest place I have heard of is "Petropolitian". Sounds cool, uh? They have web cams in their facility for your peace of mind. They also have a salon boutique and a daily "play care".

Showing Off Your Pet- Every year CAAWS has a Mardi Gras parade. This allows you to dress your furry friend in cute costumes and walk in the parade that's just for dogs/cats/and all things furry!

Obedience- Is your furry friend acting out? Will Boo Boo not sit? Is Bitsy chewing everything up? Think about obedience school. For more information, call the Louisiana Capital City Obedience Club. They are sure to get your pet right on track.

Got Poop? Oh, yes don't we all. If you have a furry friend or a "big" furry friend, you're backyard might be filled with little presents. You know, the bigger the dog the bigger the present, right? Well, now there is a company that will come clean your yards and rid them of all the "present poop". It's called Pet Butler.

Dog Parks - Sometimes the yard just isn't enough for your furry friend. Going to a some of Baton Rouge Dog Park's will allow your dog to roam, have fun and make new friends.

Spay and Neuter- OUCH! You know, sometimes it just has to be done. If you are interested in spaying  or neutering your pet, please visit East Baton Rouge Animal Control Center.

That's it. Of course, there are many other hospitals, groomers, trainers and shops in Baton Rouge for your pet. This was just a little bit of what's out there and an idea of what Baton Rouge has to offer you and your pet.
