San Diego Big Bay Boom over the 4th of July, "Fire and Rain"

Fire and Rain

This past 4th of July I attended our Big Bay Boom on the San Diego Bay and I was not disappointed as I was last year when all the fireworks went off in a flash explosion that lasted about 10 seconds.

This year the cloud cover disappeared along with much of the usual smoke that lingers to long when there is an excess of moisture in the air.

The fireworks vendor did not charge the city this year and added a couple more minutes to the usuall 18 minute show. I got to my preferred location at the Hilton on the Bay about 5 hours ahead of time as parking is always an issue and they charged $15 this year for parking. I guess it was worth not having to walk a mile dragging my photo gear. Had a great dinner at the Sports Grill and then the wait.

I think it was worth it. I got a few amazing shots that I am still trying to decide how I want to display some of them for next year when I post about the event.

In the meantime....

William,

I agree with you it was worth it! Those shots are amazing thanks for sharing and it sounds like you had a great 4th of July, what kind of speed and camera did you use for those shots?

I just had to come back a little later, to see if your images would show up, and of course they have.  Wonderful stuff, William.  I am not the best with moon shots or moving objects, like fireworks, but you are!

I love your fireworks and that was a very well spent 15 bucks to share this beauty with us. Don't forget to take a deduction as a blogging business expense.

Spectacular photography, William.  Maybe better than being there and fighting the crowds?  I do remember last year's big boom in SD, and this year Simi Valley had firework problems that injured spectators.  I was in Pismo Beach where the cloud cover ruined the fireworks show.  Oh well.  Thanks for the pictures.

William,

I got your comment, checked and the photo is there.  Someone else has mentioned difficulty in seeing the photos.  I know that AR was down on Friday evening...wondering if that is affecting it.  LOL Have a great week.  PS, the members' photos were down and they loaded, maybe the same goes for the pix.  A

William, just stunning! I can't decide what I admire more, the fireworks or your expert ability to capture them in a photo! Will we really have to wait a year to see more of them? :-)
