Managing your business in a changing market sounds like a great topic for a series of blogs.  There is no question that the market has changed in the last 12 months.  There are more home sellers ready to sell their home and move on.  There are still many first time home buyers in the market as well as those that lost their home at the beginning of the market crash.

The second tip for managing your business  - - -

DON'T THINK YOU CAN DO IT ALONE!!!

At some point in time, you are going to need help.  It may be needed so you can take time off for a vacation or to attend to personal business.  Having the right team members will help your business run efficiently but will also make it more fun!

Also keep in mind having trustworthy partners such as attorney, title company, licensed loan officer, home inspectors will keep your business on track.

Kathy,

I agree with what you are saying but it is so hard to find anyone who you can trust will not steal clients , etc. from you. Ok at least here in Katy. Too many sharks in the water always ready to attack!

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

Wise words, here...real estate is a team effort, and those professionals are key members of the team.

Kathy- very good point!  We have to know when to turn to the professionals, and that includes our professional peers.  We need to have someone we trust with whom we can exchange ideas and call in for help.

Kathy,  very important and I agree.  You must learn to delegate if you have a team.  But you must also rely on your strategic partners.  Being in total control will not grow your business.

Kathy~ I'm very fortunate, I work with my husband so there's already 2 of us to handle our business. Some day we hope to add an assistant for some of the more administrative work.

The folks who try to do it without ever having back up while on vacations, or even think they are never going to need to ask a favor of another agent are just not living in reality.

Very very true. We started our own business with mainly each other as support but similar to the "it takes a village" strategy there are always others that can be learned from.

Kathy that is a very good point. The lone wolf is ususally must that - a lone.  Can't do it a lone in this business - and why would you want to?

Kathy:  I'm at that point where I'm needing another "assistant" of some sort.  It's a big decision.  You have to let go of a little more control ... and being a bit of a control freak, that's not easy.  As a Lender, I'm sure you can understand that!!

But yes ... it's a conversation I'm having with myself ... and with my company once again.  It's time .. and as you point out, it truly is important and necessary at times ...

GREAT post,  (as usual)

Gene
