Fellow Mortgage Lender, Kathy Sheehan, Prospect Mortgage  (Atlanta)  ... broaches a topic of specific interest to me, particularly as of late.  I'm sure I'm not alone.

Business is picking up for me and many others, whether Lender or agent ... or other real estate-related professional.  Our industry has changed greatly in a very short amount of time ... and if you can believe all you read, will continue to do so in the future.  The number of details and steps that go into facilitating mortgage and real estate transactions has grown tremendously.  I don't see it stopping or changing soon.

Because of all these things, more and more of us are having to work very long hours to successfully Close a transaction.  And again, I know I'm not alone when I say I'm considering the addition of an Assistant to help me.  If I want my business to grow, it's just something I must do.

I re-post Kathy Sheehan's article for your consideration of the same.  Is your business evolving?  Growing?  And do you need to consider making this move too?  Let me know YOUR thoughts ... and what type of assistance may be most helpful to you.  By sharing, you may be helping someone else improve their business too ...

Managing your business in a changing market sounds like a great topic for a series of blogs.  There is no question that the market has changed in the last 12 months.  There are more home sellers ready to sell their home and move on.  There are still many first time home buyers in the market as well as those that lost their home at the beginning of the market crash.

The second tip for managing your business  - - -

DON'T THINK YOU CAN DO IT ALONE!!!

At some point in time, you are going to need help.  It may be needed so you can take time off for a vacation or to attend to personal business.  Having the right team members will help your business run efficiently but will also make it more fun!

Also keep in mind having trustworthy partners such as attorney, title company, licensed loan officer, home inspectors will keep your business on track.

Hi Gene,

Good topic to re-blog. You will be so glad you make the decision to have a full time assistant! Once you reach a certain level of production its the only way to go so you don't burn out! You will function so much better with an assistant. I can do what I do best - meet with buyers and sellers while my assistant mans the phones, get paper work done and prints fliers etc. etc.!

A pleasure, Kathy ... it was a good one!!  A Very valuable lesson and message for me ... thank you!

Dorie:  You sound exactly like my wife!!  She tells me much the same all the time.  Hard to focus or give attention to developing new business when you're mired in the details of the old.  Now I just need to find the right person to help me ...

Glad you've found your "right arm" and the arrangement is working so well for you ...

Steven:  I've seen companies very good at this .. acting pro-actively on the behalf of the Lender.  And then there are others.  For those that are hoping to take that leap ... I thought Kathy's post useful ...

Glad to hear that your company is working to your benefit ... that's a huge plus ...
