Scenes from The Palisade, CO Lavender Festival. Palisade, Colorado hosts this state's only lavender festival. This year was the third time around for this event, and it just keeps getting bigger each time.
Palisade is a small community about 10 miles east of Grand Junction. It's best known for it's wineries and peaches, but there are also many roadside fruit and veggie stands that show how well any type of produce grows in this area. That includes the lovely and fragrant lavender plant. Here we see one of the younger festival goers enjoying a refreshing lavender flavored beverage.
The cooking demonstrations were very popular. This is something the festival has every year. There's a cookbook available for purchase, and you guessed it...it's all about using lavender in your cooking. Every year there's a new addendum of recipes to add to the book.
This fun festival has a great setting. Mount Garfield is the dominant landscape feature in Palisade. The festival was held in the town park.
The vendors came from near and far. Most were from Colorado. There were all kinds of natural products for skin care. Food items were also available and some great gift items. Everything is handcrafted or made in small batches.
How about a little bling!
I've been going to this festival since it started. That was three years ago. I always find some unique gifts and something special for myself. You can bet I will be going back again next year. I forgot to mention there is also live music, and the guitar player is wonderful. He plays all those old 70s songs I love.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 22 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a real estate broker, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
