I was really looking forward to yesterday and wasn't at all disappointed. There were a couple of house searches to be done for upcoming buyer appointments and the rest of the day was spent in improving real estate marketing knowledge. Leslie and I are constantly investing towards keeping MoonDancer Realty physically fit so that we can best address the needs of our sellers and buyers. For us, that means staying educated not only about real estate but also about new technologies and effective opportunities for marketing...a real comprehensive business lifestyle approach and that takes real work and courage.
A week or so ago, I posted an article about sellers' concerns with a seemingly lack of activity on their listings. I decided to talk to a couple of other very active local agents only to discover we all have the same type of challenging listings. The end result of the informal survey was a self call to action. Leslie and I with with another free thinking agent in the area and we've decided to form a "master minds" type of group here in Sylva. We will be very selective about the participants, only full time top producing agents will be invited. We are only interested in working with those agents not afraid to take risks and willing to work outside their comfort zones.
After that I attended a live webinar with Chad Hyams of Internet Marketing Specialist Designation fame. The topic yesterday was how to effectively leverage Craigs List to market our listings. I was looking forward to that hour with the "Voice of Reason". In the past we've marketed on Craigs List to no avail. In fact, all we netted from that experience was an influx of advertising from people on Craigs List hoping to help our marketing needs and sell us different kinds of porn. Not useful! The attendees were sworn to secrecy about the methods so even though I'm all about sharing great learning experiences, in this case all I can do is endorse with full heart the IMSD program. Check it out, it will be worth all your time and effort, if you choose to make it so.
I left the office at 5pm and went to Southwestern Community College to take Martin Brossman's class on online directories. It was a real eye opener. I used to wonder if there will ever be enough time to implement all the extraordinary things I've learned to improve outcomes for MoonDancer Realty's buyers and sellers and still manage to make a living! The short answer is yes. The approach just has to be the same as when a person decides to start taking care of their health and this actually is exactly the same thing, only Leslie and I are constantly investing in the health of our business. It can't be a diet, it has to be a lifestyle change.
Can I say again how grateful I am that I stumbled into the ActiveRain community a little more than 3 years ago? The awesome journey has been the biggest investment of my life and I am so grateful I had the courage to start it.
Oh....and how about this sunset we were privileged to see after class? Taken from Founders Hall on the Southwestern Community Campus!
