The real estate search engine owned by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and operated by Move Inc. – released a new version 5.0 of its free realtor.com real estate app for iOS (Apple phones and tablets) and Android. Users can now view larger, higher resolution photos and, for the first time, share listings on social media channels including Facebook and Twitter.

The upgrade also includes a shortcuts menu. iPhone and Android users will be able to view listings in a new photo gallery tab and see photos without leaving search results.

“The house hunting process can be cumbersome on its own,” says Errol Samuelson, chief strategy officer of Move Inc. and president of realtor.com. “We are continuing to improve and enhance our customers’ experiences, and this update is another step to put consumers first and help people love where they live.”

The realtor.com real estate app already has specialized search features, such as search-by-school functionality added in April, and the ability to create a custom search grid directly on mobile devices.

“Our world is constantly becoming more connected, so being able to add a social element … was an absolute must in our development,” says Scott Boecker, chief product officer at Move Inc.

Move Inc. says the number of realtor.com mobile app users grew by over 60 percent in the first quarter of 2013. Realtor.com has a direct relationship with more than 800 Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), and claims to give consumers access to 98 percent of all for-sale properties listed in the U.S.
