Has anyone ever heard of www.rottenneighbor.com? I think you should check this site out.

I was on Yahoo today when I read this story about this new website. It is called http://www.rottenneighbor.com/. This website should suppose to let people know about a particular neighborhood before they make the decision to purchase their next home. Real estate agents can also use RottenNeighbor as a tool to market their services and feel more secure about the homes they show to their clients.

You can use RottenNeighbor to:

Get access to detailed maps of states, counties, cities and neighborhoods, all searchable by zip code
Find important neighborhood information by searching the site's user-provided data
Help others by uploading your own good or rotten neighbors to our database

So whenever you get a chance,check out this website.

I read about it on an AR blog and saw a TV news story about it. I thought it could be a good tool on occassion for some buyers to help them get better insight into a neighborhood. Of course the information may not be reliable.

I see this as a slippery slope. Man. You can say anything you want on the net, but where is the fack checking?

Interesting. I see that someone in Port Huron, MI posted about a neighbor who was a wife-stealer. Doesn't this make her equal to a hubcap?

I looked at this site, and all I see is litigation. This seems to be a place where people can freely vent their dirty laundry, feelings of misgivings, or plain disdain for a neighbor. This is a can of worms that I would NOT open. I did see a few neighborhood reviews that weren't slanderous, but, with a name like rotten neighbor...the title is self explanatory...lawyers....be ready.

Jennifer -I guess that's why the name of the site is called RottenNeighbor. Hopefully,this site will do just what intends to do for a ready,willing and able buyer which is to give them information about a neighborhood before they decide to buy a home there instead of becoming a airyourdirtylaundry.com. Great post.

LANRE - All I can see is litigation. I pesonally would not mention the site to a client.

From what I saw, this site appears to be nothing but a bunch of whiney neighbors. I didn’t see any statistical information at all.

In fact, the first thing I read was someone complaining that their neighbor was in real estate, and there were cars parked in their driveway and on the street, and that those people were reckless drivers.

If anything, I would want to stay away from the neighbors that are doing the whining on this site. Not the ones they’re complaining about.

I would HATE to be selling my home and having Buyers scared away because someone wanted to post things about the neighborhood.

It seems like a GREAT way for a neighborhood to drive their OWN properties values DOWN.

Oh I read a bunch of these comments.... I would never associate myself with this site!

So many of the comments are nothing more than hateful - ignorant - slurs. Lots of Racism and ignorance on that site. No facts - just a bunch of folks whining.

Whew, I read one review and it was awful, accusing someone of rape, what if it isn't true??? How would you know that someone was defaming you? I see lots of room for abuse. I would rather use crime stats to find out about a neighborhood.
