Dudgeon Monroe on the shores of Lake Wingra is one of Madison’s hip-trendy areas. If you have beatnik in your blood it’s where you want to be. There’s over one and a half miles of stores, restaurants & galleries to wander through. Going back as far as 1850’s this area has had a strong mercantile presence. Not long after a stagecoach stop was planned the area grew from a sleepy farm area to a busy community.  Even though Dudgeon Monroe has change through the years it still retains that strong community bond.  Jazz in the Park, 4th of July Children's Parade, Solstice Parties in the Glenwood Children's Park, and other Dudgeon Monroe annual events to bring neighbors together and keeps the bond growing.

Well maintained 2-story homes with great front porches line the quiet residential streets of Dudgeon Monroe. Downtown Madison, UWM, several major hospitals all  within a 1-2 mile radius of Dudgeon Monroe make it an ideal location to live for academic staff, students,  young families and professionals. Lake Wingra offers relaxing boating, walking in the University of Wisconsin-Arboretum, rollerblading on the Southwest Bike Path and too many other things to mention.  Some of the local’s favorite spots are Michael’s Custard, Laurel Tavern and Pasqual’s. They also love to get lost in nature at the Indian stone council circle in Glenwood Park. Dudgeon Monroe has a very eclectic beatnik feel to it that just adds energy and life to the neighborhood.
