Well, as the nuclear blast eliminates Valencia and any hopes of us ever visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain, we finally get introduced to the Bauer clan (why hasn't it ever dawned on us before that Jack even has a family?)

Okay, so we didn't meet Archie, Edith, or Meathead, but we did learn a valuable tip on household safety. "Don't leave any plastic bags lying around the house!"

And you thought YOUR family was dysfunctional!?!?!

This week's episode sees the "return" of Jack's brother, Graem Bauer. You remember Graem, don't you? He was the guy on the Bluetooth giving marching orders to President "Wimpy" Logan in Season Five.

"Oh what a Wicked Web we weave, when first we learn to Deceive!"

For those of you keeping record, this is the second cast member they've resurrected from the movie "Robo-Cop." In Season 5, Mr. Robocop himself, Peter Weller, was Christopher Henderson, a former CTU buddy of Jacks. Graem (Paul McCrane) played Emil (the guy who gets melted by toxic waste).

And what's up with Graem's wife and Jack? Oh, SURPRISE! They used to have a "thing?" Geesh, are there any women in LA, eligible or otherwise, that Jack hasn't dated?

We also had our weekly dose of inept presidential advisers. Don't you just love the Admiral in the War Room? "Nuke ‘em, Nuke ‘em all!" Gee, thanks for the input, Admiral. Can we get back to ya?

Of course, there's the very telling dialogue between Brother Graem and Father Bauer's Security Geek, Liddy?

Graem: "Dammit, we should have killed Jack when we had the chance instead of handing him over to the Chinese!"

Liddy: "We tried!"

Boy, with enemies like that, who needs brothers? No wonder Jack puts his head into a Ziploc Alligator Baggie!

The classic Jack Quote for the week comes from one of the final scenes. Jack is slapping his brother around and threatens to hurt him if he doesn't cough up some information. Graem says, "You're already hurting me!" And Jack's reply?

"Trust me, I'm not!"

Jack Bauer, the only one who can say, "Trust me" and then beat the crap out of you, all at the same time!

Another week...another shocker and another twist!  And of course, throw in a quick save of the crashing helicopter!!  So is Graem involved with this series of attacks?  Or has he taken a back seat to Father Bauer and becomes a good guy when something eventually happens to his wife and Jack's past love interest

I was waiting for "long series exhaustion/boredom" to set in so that I no longer have to watch (long time Mariner fans will recognize this syndrome, as it gets a lot of us a few weeks after the All-Star game)...

but not yet!  I'm still sucked in, and can't wait until next week.  Yes Rich, that was the best variation of the trademark "trust me" I've heard yet.

What's next?  Hmmm... how about Kim reappearing as Rosie's new pal, and Rosie going after Jack for his un-Jacklike breakdown?  Add a little "reality" to the show?

Nah, bad idea... still waiting for Kim though.  It's only a matter of time I think.  This year seems to be the year of the family.

Where is Graem's wife from?  She looked so familiar, but I couldn't place her.

As for Jack's family, all they ever wanted us to worry about was his wife and daughter.  No other mention had ever been made, so I assumed he was an only child.  Graem (how did you know that spelling?) always plays a weasel-type character, so it's no surprise to me he's working the other side.

I can't wait to see how Jack's Dad ties into all of this. I was hoping that they would use Donald Sutherland as his dad -but oh well. I'm not even sure he is still alive anyway.

Donna- Graem's wife is also the Congressman's wife in a wheelchair on Hero's NBC 9pm ESt on Mondays too.

Graem's son looked like he could be Jack's son. Blond hair just like Jack's daughter Kim. Why even have him in the scene? Makes me wonder if he isn't Jack's love child with Graem's wife.

I agree with the plastic bag trick. I liked how the bag was just lying around the office. I wonder what he would have used if the bag wasn't there.

I too was surprised that Graem was his brother.

I wonder what will happen at the little holding camp for the terrorists. Will Sandra Palmers significant other crack the case and help the Feds? Or will the terrorists find out he is wired and kill him?

Such a great show. It is good to know that the terrorist need a new trigger assembly to attach to the other four nukes. It will be interesting to see who they get to assemble the trigger they need for the nukes.

Come on Monday night....

Jay - have the fun is all the speculation about what's going to happen. They give us so many twists, that it's hard to know which direction things will go. About the only things we ever know for sure:

Somebody's gonna die

Jack is usually on the giving end

Kim will be kidnapped at some point in the season

Rich you are right half the fun is speculating and when you correctly guess, it makes you feel pretty good. But a lot of times I am completely stumped.

Like year one when Nina killed Jack's wife's. It took a while to figure she was bad.

Kim kidnapped is true. LOL

Jay - Who would've guessed the outcome of last season? Right from the moment Palmer got whacked, everyone starting droppin like flies. And then, right at the end, when Jack finally catches his breath, BAM! He's off to China! Ya gotta luv this show!

Somehow I have not been notified of new comments the last couple of days so I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off looking for blogs I posted on.

I just saw a news article about 24 and Kieffer Sutherland was defending the show and the portrayal of Muslims in the show. I guess they have been taking some heat about this season.

Two more days....

Jay - this show is more realistic than I think many people are willing to admit. Since when does TV have to be politically correct?

Rich very true and it can be quite scary if you really think about it.

What did everyone think of last nights show? More drama next week?

Jay - Don't jump the Gun, Son! I'll post my recap later tonight. What a great episode though! More twists than the Road to Hana on Maui!

I'd never jump the gun. Just the rope. LOL I'll be waiting......

Thanks Jay

I heard today on Fox that the writer needs to write the last 5 episodes still. I would have thought it would have been all over by now.

They have all of the episodes broken out (rough drafts) to help with setting up locations, sets, pyrotechnics, etc.  The final shooting scripts are left to the end.  In Season 1 they shot two endings, one with Bauer's wife dying (the one they used) and an alternative ending where she lives.  They're just leaving themselves wiggle room, I think.  These one-hour episodes are so frustrating.  A two-hour block is coming in a couple of weeks (thank you!).  If you all are interested in a fun 24 site, go check this out: http://thejacksack.blogspot.com
