How To Be Found Online

One of the most common issues I come across with agents and their online presence is total dissatisfaction with social forums.  Most agents who express this simply don't understand the role social forums play in the big picture.  In addition, they tend to believe that social forums, lead generation and the like are replacements for the old-fashioned art of meeting people.

Alas, they are not.

What they do, when used properly, is augment all of your other efforts.  Let's face it, if they can find you pretty easily online it lends more credibility to your email drip campaigns, your direct mailers and even your phone calls.

A nice article on this came to me in my email this morning:  Social Media Profile Marketing - 5 Steps to Being Found Online.

Barry Hurd does a really nice and concise job illustrating how social marketing works, how to establish a stronger presence online, and how just simply having a website is not nearly enough.  You have to actively and consistently let people know who you are and drive them to your site or sites online.

One simple online presence isn't enough...you have to have many.   And you have to link them together.  My favorite quote from the article is when Hurd says "if you want to be on top of the pyramid - you also have to be on the bottom."

Please take time to read Barry Hurd's article.  It's full of great strategies.

Hello:

Just read the article by Mr. Hurd and many of the suggestions he makes are great. The one thing I think that we all over look is that it takes a lot of meeting and greeting of all types of individuals. As a person in sales we have to deal with socializing all the time. It has been my goal to meet five new people a day. Some days I exceed my goals other days I do not. I find that even though I have a website etc, I get more results with going belly to belly with people.

Mark, thanks for the link -- the whole social networking is new to me, but I already am beginning to understand the power.

Thanks for the great information. You know, AR has turned me into a computer geek. I had no idea that real estate  wasn't just about selling homes- it's about back links, bloglogs, statistics, links, pictures, posting, blogging, and so on. I am so proud to be a nerd! Go Team Nerd!

Thanks for this Mark!  I have found that my AR blogs are closer to the top of my google searches even some at number 1.
