Greater Sacramento, like so much of the country is enduring a heat wave. Local temps in the 100s are forecast. The strategy for enduring this kind of heat, is to rise early, and finish physical outdoor activities quickly.
By 7:15 am, I found myself seated on my bicycle, peddling to California Family Fitness to put in an hour or more of swimming. Riding home, it wasn’t too warm to enjoy the morning and smell the flowers, so abundantly in bloom.
My neighbor, a few houses away, has several Sunflowers blooming in their front yard. Are there any flowers on this good Earth, which bring smiles more swiftly.
Myrl, later on in Summer there isn't a time that we can go out and be truly comfortable. The bike works great with it's feel of wind rushing by but when stopped it's like, who turned on the faucets. Cool picture, maybe sunflowers are the answer?
Myrl here it would have been too humid for a bicycle, going outside for any length of time would have been a mistake.
Sunflowers really can make you happy, it is that color.
I love a great action shot AND flowers. You have the best of both right here!! 😎
You made me so happy with this post... good for you. And I love sunflowers and your photo!

Myrl, this is an Absolutely Breathtaking photo!!! I haven't read enough of your posts yet to know if you are a photographer. Did you take this photo? If so, then you MUST enter it into a contest. It is Phenomenal!!!
Myrl, I just had to come back to your photo for another look. It is so beautiful. I hope you frame it.
Oh, that is a gorgeous photo, Myrl, I just love it. It must be dry in your neck of the woods (as Al Roker would say). Here's it's so wet and humid. The best I can do is stand in the rain to take animal pictures :-)
Kevin - I've been to your wonderful state of Florida. However, it was in February, when temps were really comfortable. And, I can attest to those delightful breezes, especially down in the Keys.
Jennifer - Sacramento's humidity levels are drier than some parts of the country. However, we have had days when it is more sultry than usual. I agree, riding a bike on those days isn't quite as comfortable.
Joni - Glad you like it! I hope you are having a great weekend!
William - I'm embarassed to say the picture was taken with my point and shoot camera, but surgically enhanced using the amazing free online photo editing tool, www.iPiccy.com. I love their "vibrance" and "emboss" effects.
Kathy - I think Sunflowers were sent to Earth to act as natural mood enhancers:-)
Lisa - I pack a camera around with me and I take pictures. I still am not arrogant enough to label myself a photographer:-)
Toni - Sacramento seems to enjoy a sweet spot when it comes to humidity. Usually, we aren't too dry or too humid. I know about Florida though, having been there. You still have those gorgeous views, waters, sands and breezes. And they are hard to beat!
Myrl, what a great shot! What I want to know is.. how did you get that bee to look at the camera and smile? Because that is exactly what it looks like the bee is doing.
Myrl - Now this one IS a WORK of ART! And its cheery too!
Great advice about how to accomplish more during a heat wave and still enjoy the day. You are a busy bee and you always accomplish more. That's one of the many excellent qualities about you!
Myrl,
I love the photo you said it was surgically enhanced does that mean the bee was put in? Just asking? I love the picture one of my favorites from you and there are so many great ones to choose from! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Great shot. Thanks for sharing your photograph.
Keep cool and have an outstanding week.
What a great photo, and on a bike ride is the best way to capture some wonderful photos!
Man, if I didn't know you better, Myrl, I'd say you have a pair of strings attached to that bee and you're positioning him just like a puppet over that sunflower. But I know you shot a bunch of photos and captured that bee all on your own!! What a great shot. I love it love it.
