Scenes From The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Concert Montrose Colorado. Three different performers, a mountain backdrop and an almost full moon set the stage for a charity benefit for The Dolphin House. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band headlined a perfect evening under the stars for this wonderful charity event. The show was Friday, July 19th, 2013.
Well over 1000 people attended this evening concert to benefit The Dolphin House in Montrose, CO. The Dolphin House provides a safe environment for children and family members taken out of an abusive situation. The turnout was amazing. The evening started off with a quartet of family singers called The Browns. Western Cowboy, Dave Stamey, turned singer, songwriter played next, and he's an amazing person to listen to. His songs tell stories about experiences and cowboy personalities in The West. There's a full selection of his music available on youtube.
The big draw was The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. This group has been performing for 47 years, and I think most everyone is aware of who they are. The guys put on a fabulous show, and played all the old favorites like, Ripplin Waters, Dance Little Jean, Fishing in the Dark and Will The Circle be Unbroken. I was thrilled when they performed Dylan's song, Easy Chair.
John McEuen Didn't miss a beat on the banjo, guitar or mandolin. The crowd gathered up front for some dancing and everyone was singing. The age range of fans was amazing. There were kids playing on the greens, and 20 somethings dancing up front. There was also the older set enjoying the music from chairs and the dancing area. My 16 year old daughter really enjoyed the show, but she knows their music, because it's played in my house.
All in all it was a great night, and a profitable one for The Dolphin House. Thank you to The Bridges Golf Course in Montrose, CO for hosting this wonderful charity event in your wonderful setting. I'm sure it raised a lot of money for The Dolphin House.
