I Know You, from Active Rain...
I need to get used to getting calls from people who know more about me than I know about them. Especially with Active Rain doing a great job of broadcasting all of my stuff across the nation.
For the first decade after college I had many encounters with fellow foresters who knew me yet I had no idea who they were, I quickly realized that this was because I was an officer in several professional organizations on campus and they spent their time in these meetings in the audience where they were less visable than the officers who were at the front of the room.
Now after a few months of my blogs being visable to the public I have had my second phone call from someone who knew me already.
The first encounter was from a lady from Nevada who was starting a new position with a company in Stevens Point, when she asked me my name and I replied, "Bob Crane", her response was "oh I know you, ... from Active Rain".
She has been a member of AR for several years and so is her mother. so while showing her a property the conversation involved much more about active rain than the home she was touring.
The home was not what she was looking for, but hopefully we now have another person to show up at the next AR meetup.
The second encounter was today with a fellow from Montana who was relocating to Wisconsin.
He did some research on me before making the call and one of his questions was if this was the place that was "off the grid", he then went on to mention that he had read one of my blogs about a place that I have near Cadott with Solar Electricity.
Both of these calls surprised me to the point of being a little unprepared.
Yet after the calls I reflected on how happy that I was now that my constant blogging was starting to pay off with more than my Active Rain friends reading my blogs.
