Project 121 - Help Peoria's Pet Population
Two months ago, I wrote a blog about ways to help Peoria's pet population. At the time, the Arizona Humane Society was doing a Match Grant Challenge, where every donation was matched dollar for dollar up to the amount of $10,000. I thought that was a really excellent program and a great time to make a donation. With the money I was donating, I was able to help with the care of twice as many pets as normal and that is never a bad thing, right?
Today I learned that the Arizona Humane Society is running another match campaign in conjunction with VCA Animal Hospitals called Project 121. VCA Animal Hospitals will be matching all online donations now through July 28th up to $25,000.
Here are some important statistics:
- The Arizona Humane Society takes in an average of 121 homeless animals every day...hence Project 121.
- A $5 donation can provide medicine for one two animals in AHS' trauma center for one day.
- A $25 donation can provide one two EAMTs with live-saving supplies for an animal suffering from severe trauma.
- A $50 donation can provide vaccinations, food, blankets and toys for two four animals for a week.
- A $150 donation can help spay or neuter one two cats and one two dogs as help fight the pet overpopulation crisis.
So if anyone was planning on making a donation to the Arizona Humane Society in the near future, now is a great time to make that donation. Not only is a donation tax deductible, but more importantly, it will now do twice as much good for pets in need here in Arizona. Just remember, no donation is too small to help.
