While on Vacation Bank Foreclosed on Homeowner's House....Wrong HouseWhile on Vacation Bank Foreclosed on Homeowner's House....Wrong House

Repo Man went to wrong address on Foreclosure

A homeowner from McArthur, Ohio went on a 2 week vacation and when she returned she had been locked out. She crawled through the window and found that all her possessions, furniture and momentos had been removed except for a few broken pieces of furniture left behind.

She called the police who took a report but 2 weeks later called to say they had closed the file as the bank had foreclosed on her home! The problem was that the bank who did it, was not her bank.

While on Vacation Bank Foreclosed on Homeowner's House....Wrong HouseApparently "First National Bank" ordered a repo company to go out to an address at 509. Instead they arrived at the house on 514. Finding no one home, they removed all her property and rekeyed the home. When asked later why they went to that home, they claimed their GPS took them there.

The bank admited their mistake and ask her to send them an itemized list of all possessions and an amount. She submitted her list totally $18,000 and the Bank President told her they would only give her garage sale prices as this was not a Retail Store. Also the list she provided does not match the list submitted by the repo company.....very interesting.

While on Vacation Bank Foreclosed on Homeowner's House....Wrong HouseOne of the VP's of the bank would not give a formal interview on camera but said they were working with her to reach a settlement. The irony here is this is not even her bank.

Most states have laws in place to hold the furnishing for 20 days and try to reach the previous owner in a foreclosure. Not sure of the law in Ohio but seems like she was treated unfairly and should recieve a nice settlement for her anguish and lost items.

What do you think this homeowner should get?

Kristin, In Tennessee they do a personal property eviction which takes months. Then they are free to dispose of the items anyway they want. This bank is acting irresponsible and they own her big time. They had better get out their checkbooks.

Hi Kristin, I listened to this story this evening and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I hope some really top notch attorney takes this on and gets her millions and millions.

Kristin, this is outrageous, yet not surprising, I would have mentioned the name of the bank and the official along with a phone number, he and his employer deserve the heat.

Hi Debbie,

I totally agree and think they should hand her a check for $50,000 and hope she goes away quietly. The banks are making lots of money now and no one is going to have any sympathy for them. They would not look good if she brought this to trial; a jury of citizens would go harshly on the bank and award punitive damages for her stress. I am wondering if her insurance would replace everything and then sue the bank.

Hi William,

We heard it on FOX News and I even said someone like Gloria Allred might take this case on and really fix the bank. I think there are a lot of frivolous lawsuits but this one is not. No one should get away with a "mistake" like this. I wonder how the bank president would feel if this happened to him?

Hi Bob,

In my opinion, the bank would be smart to give her a lump settlement like 50k and get her to sign a release before an attorney makes a huge case out of this and it is all over the news. Banks make money when people put money in their banks and take out loans. The citizens might go to other banks and not bring any new business when the rumors start flying about how unkind they are being to her. The homeowner is a victim and it is ridiculous that they are trying to give her garage sale prices for her possessions. I would want ''Macy's" prices for all my possessions and some pain and suffering money too.
